In retrospect was the choice of Lucy in the live shows a bad mistake
Tulisa's category has been devastated in two weeks.
She should have been seen the warning signs when she was very poor at the judges houses and Tulisa allowed her to get away with it. |

She was one of the stars of the audition process. Would have been a huge shock had she not made the live shows.

I still stand by saying the final 3 girls should've been Ella, Jade Ellis and Leanne Robinson, but the producers didn't give Jade or Leanne enough airtime to get the public vote to warm to them. |

I said this from the start.
Having an act in who is in a totally different show? It's like having a juggler on Strictly. It doesn't fit. |

Putting her through was not a risk, it was more a departure from the approach we're used to. Given that ratings were down a bit I s'pose it's not really a surprise that they put an act through that was a bit different to the identikit template we'd expect.

Hardly a mistake, she received ample votes to keep her in and she'll have broadened the appeal of the show while she was there. I doubt anyone stops watching because of a single act they don't like, but there will be quite a few who only watch because of the one or two acts which enthuse them. For me this year there was Lucy, Melanie, Rylan, possibly Jade, nothing better than indifference after those... I'll probably continue viewing while Rylan sticks around.

Then again, it would've been a 'surprise' to the audience and it would've kept them watching to see what happens.

In the end, it depends what the X-Factor is all about..
If it's about "finding a recording artists/singing star," then there's no reason why she shouldn't be involved? If it's about pigeon-holing people and making them into what amounts to musical harlots/lap-dogs who's only option is to dance to the tune of the powers that be behind the show, then maybe it would be better for not to have been involved. It's almost as if the show just didn't know what to do with her and how to deal with what she had to offer..even though they kept going on about how "original," and "different," she was from anything they'd had in the show.. Maybe, if there were more opportunities for contestants to choose their own songs for the live shows and allow people to sing their own material if they're writers then there would be room for a wider variety of acts to be involved. Some may argue that a crowd geared to over-hyped, knee-jerk reactions to predictable song choices, (hear them scream, in all the right places, when the singer hits the high notes..etc. etc.) would be unable to appreciate someone coming from a different angle. I think Lucy's proven them wrong on that score.. However, in that regard and regrettably IMO she may turn out to have been a one off. Rich. x |

To me, Lucy & Rylan were/are the only ones worth watching the show for.
X Factor is boring this year. It's a damn snooze fest with mediocre talent and overrated singers. When watching it, I'm bored waiting for those two to come on. So, now with only Rylan left, it's hardly worth watching. For people saying she was awful at bootcamp/judges houses and really shouldn't have been put through, Yeah Moves Like Jagger wasn't so good and I agree it was uncomfortable to watch etc. and I Will Always Love You wasn't her best, but it was better than some of the others... BUT, don't you remember Tea & Toast? How amazing?! Seriously. Also, they didn't show it on the show, but that wasn't her original boot camp song choice. She did a mash up including titanium, we are young, raise your glass and many others and the judges asked her to sing another original song, which was then shown on TV as the boot camp audition. So, obviously the fact that she did a cover amazingly at boot camp went into consideration when choosing the finalists, not just the covers that weren't so good. As I said, for me, The X Factor wouldn't have really been worth watching without her. Gutted she has gone. But now - Team Rylan all the way

She had a particular niche so she was a risk but her departure isn't her fault. Anyway due to her popular audition she was always going to go to the live shows.

imo, purely for the fact that Lucy wasn't really a great singer, but a great song writer, she was in the wrong show. She would be more suited to Britain's Got Talent. Amy Mottram should have made the live shows instead. I state that this is only my opinion, and would be interested to hear if anybody feels the same way.

Looks like it is official now that Lucy's quit. I'll be sorry to see her go.

My guess would be that Amy was liked by much the same people who like Ella, but that the vast majority of them would have preferred Ella to Amy. Lucy appealed to a section of viewers who might otherwise have struggled to find much to interest them in this year's cast (like me...) so to keep the attention of the largest possible audience it made full sense to have her around.
Of course, if the next four or five posters say they rate Amy above Ella my theory's probably dead in the water

I think she'd have been better off in BGT but no one could have predicted the circumstances of her exit.
I just wish her well, whatever she decides to do next. |

Well Lucy wasn't voted out, she left due to health reasons, so we can't really say that Tulisa made the wrong decision in taking her through to lives because she could have stayed in for weeks to come had circumstances not been what they are. For all we know she might have stayed in even longer than Ella, we'll never know, so saying in retrospect she shouldn't have been taken through doesn't make much sense.

what a daft question
you're basically asking if they should have known she'd be ill/whatever six weeks down the line so best not to put her through as some people liked her and some don't (same as all the other acts) i'm not sure what else you can be asking?
