She was doing extremely well on iTunes with several of her own songs before the live shows.
Now she is no longer a part of the competition can she release them?
Considering what may (or may not) have happened to her, I think it would be extremely bad taste for simon/producers to be holding her back due to some ridiculous and restricting contract.

I suspect she'll be offered the chance to record an album of her own original material. It might not be a huge seller overall as the UK Chart doesn't really reflect her style of music, but i think she'll have certainly gained enough fans so far to make a decent go of it in the short term.

And is every thread about her from now until kingdom come going to try and hint about what may or may not have happened?

I hope not every thread does, it's going to get so annoying.
No amount of speculating is going to change the situation, at the end of the day, for whatever reason the decision to leave is what is best for her.

It depends upon the exact wording of the contract. And if the Producers leaned on her to leave rather than miss another week then they may have conceded all sorts of stuff to her to incentivise her to pull out rather than face the media storm of giving her another pass.

Abso-bloody-lutely.

Almost definitely. They won't want any releases taking focus away from the competition. I'd say there won't be any material from here until at the very earliest June or July next year - maybe longer.

But then you might find, if they take the same route as usual and take time with the winners album, she might be used as a "bridge" of sorts - release an album around April-June time to get a bit of buzz going, then whoever the winner is releases their one around the time the show starts up again next year.

Think she has to wait until the winner has released the winners single

I forgot about waiting for the winners single.

Maybe not record anything new and put out a physical CD, due to contracts and also waiting until the winners single etc.

But something she already had, was successful after her audition until X Factor bosses made her take it down, should be allowed back on.

x factor contracts are watertight, there's no getting out of them.

She won't be able to officially release anything until the contract ends, which, seeing as she got onto the live shows could well be 2 years

I think the contract is for around a year and whatever the contestants work at Syco gets a % of it

Im sure they also own the rights to any of her older material she recorded prior to the xfactor.

So could be tied up for at least a year possibly two?

I think it'll be a lot less. it'll all depend on whether or not they do a live tour next year. if she's happy to release stuff under syco, it could be any time next year but i suppose if she wants to sign for an independent label or release the stuff herself, she'll have to wait for the contract to expire or ask for a release.

Ever the sceptic me wonders if Lucy really is as ill as portrayed. For me Lucy realized she cannot do covers and wanted an out to be able to stick to her own music. X Factor gave her access to a huge audience, she knew her music had a niche. Going on would really have wiped that all out.

Just this cynics ipinion

I'm pretty sure they're all tied in until after the tour.

Maybe you should have a look on Twitter to see if you can find the rumours behind her quitting. I was quite cynical too until I looked.

Dear God, I do hope not...a Kate Nash/George Formby mash-up is NOT what the current music scene needs...

Frankie Cocozza has a new EP out now, I'd dare say with the fact he has distanced himself from the X Factor that he is now longer under contract with the show so it could be a year before she is free to release her own material outside of Syco's influence.

I believe Syco get first refusal on all acts too, so I doubt she'll be away from their influence because they'll just see £££££. Hopefully she'll stand up for herself and have more control like Rebecca Ferguson did.

I think the contestants are in a contract so they can't release anything until after the show has finished. I don't think anyone should be releasing stuff before the winner of the programme.
