There are 8 acts left and they'll perform for 3 minutes each, maximum.
Even allowing for the ad breaks and filler, how the hell can they drag this out for nearly 2 hours?

Longer judges comments, longer staged judges arguments, expect some controversial things to happen in the comments and stuff. Expect some judges to "fall out" heavily. Expect something to happen, to stop people talking about Lucy and what happened to her.

I'm sure they'll've put together some fascinating V.T.s to fill the time.....

It's amazing how much time can be filled with people looking dewy-eyed and telling us how "hard," their lives have been and then blubbing uncontrollably..and exclaiming how they've "got to up their game/really nail it this week/pull out all the stops/they've got just this one chance." or, pick the cliche of your choice!

Or maybe they'll give us endless clips of family, friends and supporters waxing lyrical.

Or, perhaps Dermot will get to do a whole "dance," routine with the girls?

I think XF has finished 5-10 minutes earlier than usual during the live shows at least once before.

Christopher will open and close the show with renditions of "You'll Never Walk Alone."

With lingering shots of menan swaying and a VT of Stevie Gerrard, Kenny Daglish and Jamie Carragher in tears

XF would be at least 90 minutes without ads.

Ads with a single performance in between. Easy.

Didn't they each have a masterclas this week. That's good for an hour's worth of TV to try and misdirect the viewers.

I hope Tulisa or Nicole don't decide they want to promote their latest single and decide to strut their stuff. I find it quite distasteful how some of the judges use the show as a vehicle to boost their own careers. Time for some new faces.

Each act performs adverts in sequence, Rylan : Lynx Effect, Jahmene : Bodyform, Ella : Argos, James : Maybelline....etc

It does increase the profit margin though. The judges won't get paid any more to perform on the show whereas a guest act might require some kind of payment.

So far, during the whole course of the X-Factor, a "masterclass," a terrible misuse of the term, on the vast majority of occasions doesn't really normally get beyond the sort of thing Robbie Williams was coming out with last week..

"Never stop being yourself."

I'd love to see an actual masterclass, but that would amount to some form of vocal coaching..not a strong suit for most of the people they pick to do them.

Mind you, out of it, though she was Whitney, at least, had some musical advice for the contestants..makes a change

Rich.

I'll drag it back to around 15 minutes using a PVR and the skip +2 minutes, skip +1 minutes, skip + 30 seconds and rewind 15 seconds buttons on the remote.

Sob stories,
