Tulisa's comment about no woman singing Listen better than Jahmene...
I mean, really? What a disgraceful comment. Jahmene's version was fine but not as good as it was made out to be.
I mean for God's sake, on Alexandra Burke, BEYONCE herself. Charice, Melanie Amaro... There have been plenty of way better renditions. I actually couldn't believe it. I'm also getting a feeling that the show is taking some snide digs at Alex Burke a lot lately. They need to cut it out. |

Yeah I feel the judges are overrating quite a lot of contestants this year.

Since it is scripted it makes sense. But I sense them too. Louis loves them ha!
But seriously. Tulisa is wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3hsoyW03po |

I love Jahmene, but he is doing what Misha did. Not playing to his vocal strengths correctly. He really messed the song up for me. His tone wasn't even suited to it. He needs to fix his one size fits all vocal approach, cause it is NOT working.

Tulisa's opinion is worthless tbh. And I agree the show has been trying to write AB out of its history, but of course some people will love that. |

It could well be that the acoustics live sound very different to how the acts sound on our TV screens. I felt quite a few acts sounded OTT yet they were loved by the judges?

oh yeah. The Risk sounded great on Thriller at my house on playback but horrendous at my cousin's. We have HD and she doesn't.

Ridiculous comment. I thought the song overwhelmed him tonight and he wasn't good. The over praise was insane and that comment was the worst. Jahmene needs to understand that less is often more and stop with the over singing

I thought he couldn't even sing the song. It was in the wrong key for him and he was struggling to fit all the words in.

Ridiculous comments from the judges. The thing is, he has an amazing vocal range, but he hits a high note on every other word of a song. Alexandra would sing him off the stage though. Her version was a million times better.

But, I agree there's a serious amount of over-hyping and selective listening going on here. While I agree that a few slips in a song are nothing in the context of a whole performance, though much was made of Chris Maloney's "massive," for that, read 10 notes and we're not told how severe the mistakes were, in the course of a song which probably contained upwards of 200 notes..there were, once again, in Jahmene's performance a number of painfully mis-pitched notes. And, I agree with comments about the "messiness," in some areas, where, once again, he insisted on ad-libbing, probably on the spur of the moment and, it just doesn't work, or fit the flow of the song, or the needs of the harmony every time he does it. Rich. x |

That's Tulisa coming out with her usual nonsense - again!
No-one can sing Listen better than Beyonce & Jahmene's rendition wasn't a patch on it. Also, Alexandra Burke was far better than Jahmene when she sang it. |

The woman Tulisa was referring to was herself, yes Jaheme could sing Listen better than her but noone can sing Listen better than Beyonce. Alexandra version was way better than Jaheme.

neorich, Haley Reinhart a real star of American Idol was asked about ad-libbing at her end-of-show interview with Slezak on TVline. She said great during rehearsals but never during a live performance, if you ad-lib live you may well end up somewhere you don't want to be and then find it difficult to get back on track. She's right as Jahmene loses his way every week.

she did rate beyonce`s version from what she actually said and i agree with others when they say that is her prerogative to state that opinion. she didn't actually mention any other female versions or compare it unfavourably to anyone specific. so what is the big deal?

LOL, was Tulisa smoking something, oops!
In xfactor history alone, there's Alexandra's powerful performance that is universally acknowledged as brilliant...melanie amaro, beyonce, char ice...list goes on,... |

I think Jahmenes version was exceptional & am shocked at the negativity here! I personally think Alexandra was overrated- and was only hyped up cos she was singing with Beyonce (who I am a total mega fan of). Jahmene has a gorgeous tone to
His voice & the majority of ppl on this forum agree that he was the best singer of the night this week. Cut him some slack- he's amazing. |

Alexandra's version was like x10 better! Jahmane sounded out of tone in some parts and he shouts! He has no vocal control.

I actually quite like the tone of Jahmene's voice on the rare occasions when he just sings the actual notes. The trouble is, those occasions are few and far between.
I thought he made an absolute hash of "Listen". He lost control and it wasn't pleasant to listen to. |
