Just wanted to say, my last one about negative comments was removed even through it was a neutral thread..

Anyway can anyone answer this....

Why do people feel the need to post cruel and negative comments about the contestants, presenter, judges and pros, camera work.. The list goes on..
and after going back to main page pregnant wives too.
If you don't like it that much to character assassination on them then simply don't watch instead of spreading negative karma...

I think its about power and anonymity. The same people would never say the same things face to face but hiding behind a computer screen gives them more power than in their real lives.

Yep, about half a dozen, including one about Denise being fantastic.

If you're looking for unremitting positivity, the appreciation threads are in the attic these days.

I find the Victoria bashing quite disturbing if I am honest .I genuinely dont get the need to be so nasty about someone on a dance show .By all means say her dance wasnt great but some posts last night crossed the line

It's a discussion forum so you have to expect both negative and positive threads. I don't understand why it bothers so many people what strangers are saying. Just don't read any thread you don't like or agree with.

Hang on. Our licence money pays for this stuff.
As their employer I can make comments. Surely.
This is broadcast to the nation. No publicity is BAD publicity.

I can 'bash' them if I feel the need. I can also praise where praise is due. Tess on the 'Sunday' show is very good. I thought Karen (new pro) was shown giving some EXCELLENT teaching points to Nicky last night. I could go on.

But I reserve the right to say I think VP is routinely overmarked. And Kristina's costumes are often too scanty. Bruce is past it.

I quoted your post for a reason. You said "

My response was yes, there are positive threads on the main page. You can't change the parameters when people disagree with you.

I'm afraid you may be suffering from 'Pollyanna Syndrome'.

People don't say nice things about each other all the time.

Can we replace that with `Victoria Syndrome`

See ..that's quite rude and personal, isn't it. It's sort of...handbags at dawn again. Maybe SCD should re enact the Battle of Waterloo to music or something. I'm guessing it would be popular.

How about this for a reason - it's a FORUM.

If you only want positive views then go on to the appreciation part. People are free to express their negative opinions about well paid celebrities doing a bit of dancing and god awful presenting and judging if they so wish. There's not many places where the public can make themselves heard - thankfully this is one of them.

Thought police like yourself are far more harmful.

That seems to have followed her from her cycling career, some of the press decided that she was evil because she dared to fall in love with her coach. The press were presumably encouraged by some in the cycling team, more likely in the coaching and management ranks rather than other competitors. Professional cycling seems a very strange world!

So now im getting it for having my opinion? In that I didn't personally mention names or forum members?

Btw a forum does not mean bashing it means discussion, community not hatred?

But what one person considers 'bashing' another may consider 'discussion'.

People can have their tolerance - or not - for one or the other set at different levels, which is why there are alert buttons and moderators who are there to make the decision of what crosses the line and what doesn't.

I like reading constructive criticism.

I fail to understand why anyone posts vitriolic comments, and I have seen such within threads.

All the dance pros I know will not watch strictly for various reasons, whereas I will defend the programme at least as a concept which in my opinion has shown how hard ballroom dancing is to perfect

There is a fine line and I think that is what the OP means .Of course it open to all comments and discussion and critic .But now and then the attack on a person crosses that fine line .

I'm not opposed to criticism for the dancing I object to when it gets personal. Victoria and Denise get a really rough deal on here and for what!?
