I've tried for about 12 days in a row now, without success. Thankfully I have one on order anyway, which should arrive next week.

I got mine two weeks ago today, after only two attempts.
Tried to reserve one on the Friday... Failed. Tried again on the Saturday... Success, picked it up the next day. Even without a reservation, you could just try your luck anyway. I doubt that *every* unit is held back for reservations. |

Just to add, I've also been in the Apple Store at least eight times to ask if they had any stock. I've been been to the one in Covent Garden when I was in London, without success.
It seems like supply is very limited just at the moment. |

How come you can only try once a day then?

Because you submit your reservation, and they email you by 9pm that night if there's one available for you to collect the next day.

UNBELIEVABLE.
After 14 consecutive days of trying to reserve an iPhone, I finally got an email tonight saying they have one I can collect tomorrow. BUT, in the last couple of hours, the online order I placed on 15 October has moved from 'processing' to 'preparing for shipment' so I can't cancel it. So, I won't be able to pick up my reserved phone tomorrow after all, unless I want two!! Oh well. Should have it in the next few days anyway.

The mind boggles with Apple.
I placed an order with them online and my expected delivery dates were 30 November through 4 December. Then I thought I'd try my luck and reserve an iPhone 5 64GB at Meadowhall. I got a confirmation of my reservation later on that day. I cancelled both of my attempts with Apple... I couldn't understand why I'd had to wait longer via the website when Meadowhall had one in stock LOL. |

At least that's how it was explained to me by the guy in an Apple store. As IslandNiles has proved with his long wait, sometimes it'll just be quicker to order one online, because if you're unlucky, you might not get picked for the reservation system. |

Dont know if its a clever way of keeping a high demand & making their products stay as premium.

Every other phone maker must be so envious .... can you imagine people doing all this for any other phone ? It's a manufacturer's dream

By making sure that they requested one the day before, it minimises no-shows. Of course, the limited supply itself is another matter..... |

Hopefully I won't have to keep trying to reserve a Nexus 4, Google should have got a few ready.

in fairness, I suspect its more about distributing limited supply as fairly as possible. If someone could just put their name down on Monday, then get an email on Friday saying "yep got one for you",they might have got it elsewhere, or don't have time to go in that day.

Apparently it's down to Foxconn who are having manufacturing issues with the iPhone 5, something about it's harder to assemble than previous models.
