You can make the same argument about Lisa though, who scored a 7 for her tango. There was no staccato action and her head movements were all over the place.

It did have samba rolls and a few other samba moves that Len listed though. Lots have said it was choc full of samba content.

I didn't really feel comfortable watching it, but I definitely feel it was at least equal to Lisa but not as good as Michael.

I think he started off with the bounce, but lost it part way through. I can't say that I saw anything slightly feminine about the way he danced it. It wasn't the most comfortable to watch, but I don't ever think sambas are. It seems to me that most celebs hate dancing it, and most of the pros hate teaching it.

He wasn't the best at the samba and finished at about the right position on the leaderboard so the actual scores are irrelevant,

The scoring was quite odd at times for most people last night and IF Brucie hadn't over run perhaps we could have had time to find out the justification for those scores

Just me that loved it, then?

Granted, it lacked flow in places, but Louis has such a gorgeous sinuosity when he dances, I can't take my eyes off him. And his arms are just lovely - and I'm not talking muscular development..

Love that description - gorgeous sinuosity.

I've watched it again and I like it even better but then I'm no expert. Len, however, is and he listed a whole lot of samba content and I thought his mark was correct, not Craig's. Perhaps he will let us know on ITT his reasons for giving him a 6.

Ive just been rewatching some of the dances from Saturday including Louis. No your not the only one fancynancy I loved it too. More from the rewatching than the first time. I can't speak for anyone else but I think when I watch on a Saturday I watch with a critical eye but then by Monday I just watch a few again and I just enjoy them (or not). I really enjoyed Louis dance - I am not an expert of any kind so couldn't comment on his technique or how much samba there was in it (wouldn't that be down to Flavia?) anyway I just thought he made a great job of a difficult dance. It wasn't aggressive or growly (!) but still there was nothing feminine about it to my eye just 'cool'.

I've just watched it again and it wasn't as bad as i thought it was the first time. I just want him to connect all the moves together better if that makes sense. You can tell he's a gymnast because he pauses and then jumps into the move, so it's a bit disjointed, still better than virtually everyone else's Latin but just could do with refining but I guess he lost that because of his illness and good on him for not playing the sympathy angle. It was mentioned and they moved on.

Oh, love this phrase and it does do justice to the basic way he handles himself.

Yes, just a little bit more joining the moves and little bit more letting go. His connection with Flavia is developing really nicely and, I've said it before, her choreo for Louis has been really brilliant.

No definitely not just you! I thought it was great - the "too cool for school" flavour worked perfectly for me.

I guess it was affected by Louis being ill and losing training time.

I thought Louis would have been better doing the bachacadas on the floor along with Flavia and the hip stuff after it looked a bit gratuitous, but otherwise, I liked the routine.

He has to learn to act the dance though. Again, he may have been feeling unwell, but it needed more enjoyment to be shown.
They showed a great clip of him doing some funny dancing in training, and he needs to bring that fun side out for dances like the Samba.

He also has huge arms and Flavia may need to teach him how to disguise how long they are by keeping his elbows in a bit IMO.

That last post reads a bit negative, but I liked the little steps at the start - looked very cool.

Louis looked good in the shirt and the Samba is a dance he handled well.

A muted version and maybe choreographed that way, but he got through it comfortably which is rare for the men.

I agree - I love Louis' samba more with every viewing

Haha, me too
I usually feel slightly embarrassed watching the Samba but for some strange reason I can't stop watching Louis

Yep - that's what I meant by it lacking flow.

I loved it too. I thought it was excellent actually, given how most sambas on this show are complete trainwrecks.

I don't think you sounded negative at all. I think you're dead right. Louis is far from being perfect but I think some of us are liking his potential and what we're getting so far.

I totally agree with you about his arms, they make him look a little bit ungainly. And yep, those first few steps were the one of the highlights of the night for me (the others being Louis's costume and Artem's lack of costume )

I agree with that. Craig's 6 was a bit harsh, Darcey's 7 was fair, it shouldn't have been more than that - Len and Bruno overmarked it. Have to admit that as much as I love Flavia I really wasn't a fan of the routine itself - though it was great that it was high on content I just didn't like it as a whole.
