Did anyone find this segment cringeworthy and very ill-judged given the current investigations into the sexist culture at the BBC? Over the past few weeks we keep seeing clips of Jimmy Savile surrounded by attractive women and making 'creepy uncle' type jokes about them and this was very reminiscent of that type of programme-making. I just felt it hit a very crass note.

I thought the same and so did Emma Kennedy on Twitter.

The one girl did look very uncomfortable. And the other was wearing a much smaller woman's dress. Don't know how that happened.

Not a pretty sight. Tasteless, I agree. Very poor taste.

Yes, I agree. It was really uncomfortable to watch.

For goodness sake!

If these Samba girls didn't like it, then they should have said so at the rehearsal, they didn't have to do it.

The only thing I really noticed was the one on the left's feathers in her headdress kept touching the side of Bruce's face, which annoyed him. I don't know if she realised she was doing it, I hope she did. That was really funny.

Yes, it was crass.

Craig's comment about Dani was equally unfortunate!

I thought it was in poor taste too.

I thought it was quite a nice, lighthearted moment. Clearly the connotations are there but the joke itself was meant as a bit of good fun. I also agree- the dress run through would have been the moment for the girls to say if they didn't want to. I found it quite amusing, especially after Victoria's lacklustre Samba!

The one on the right was really cute though

Do you think that was influenced by the BBC budget cuts, resulting in a "one size fits all" dress option?

No more so than Fartem's routine for which the Beeb ran out of money half way through making Artem's outfit.

Micro bikinis on Rio beach make Artem look overdressed.
Samba dancers in Brazil wear a lot less than the two cheerful ladies on Saturday. Samba is an African dance moving parts of the bodies which north Europeans have not even heard of. It makes sense to show 'em .

Oh good grief. Must we feel guilty now over a harmless bit of fun which has absolutely no relevance to other things going on.

These were adults. No problem there.

Completely pointless, those two samba girls. There are million and one ways for Bruce to fluff his lines just to 'waste time' and allow production logistics to get the dance floor ready for the next couple, but what on earth were they thinking with that two feather girls???

That said, I don't see how this is even remotely linked to Savile (sp?) case???

I could see no point in them but also no connection at all to Saville .They were adults .

Were they part of a Brazilian Samba dance troupe? Would be great if we had a Brazilian Samba dance troupe doing a dance on sun.

Interesting seeing peoples reactions to that snippet because if you could go back in time to the 60's through to the eighties, that would be the norm in any number of variety shows that appeared through the years.

In itself its harmless between consenting adults so to speak, but if you add in the way society has changed, the whole savile business, you end up with..........a thread like this.

The daughter of a friend bought some brief bikinis as she was going to stay with an aunt in Rio for a couple of months.
One look at the girls on the beach and she went shopping for some briefer ones.

That did cross my mind at the time but it's no more annoying than the female presenters constantly ogling the male pros and celebs.

For something that is Saturday night light entertainment for the whole family, whooping at a shirtless Artem seems a little unnecessary.

Just silly filler, and I wanted them to get on with things, like the next couple. Bruce being his usual self, meh.

yes didnt anyone else hear all the women going 'woooooh' at artem with his top off. then you also have darcy who practically creams herself at the sight of louis.

same with x factor, the boys (sometimes the ages of 16 or so) get screamed at by girls and women on the shows then you have dermot the presenter who will occassionally encourage it more by lifting one of the boy's tops up
