Comedy VTs raised on Points Of View!
CloneClown

I've just read with great excitement on another thread that today's Points of View show had the issue of comedy VTs being used - quite funny how Vine introduces the segment on it. I've provided the Iplayer link and it's at the very start of the show.

They don't have a response from someone at the BBC about it but I do hope now that it's been allowed to be raised that they will be completely toned down. Last nights show was a whole lot more enjoyable since I only noted two of them being used - hopefully this is in response to the complaints being received.

And of course I did too, and encouraged others to complain, on the 'Whoever do the Comedy VTs appeal to? ' thread last week. So I was delighted to see on Points of View tonight that clearly the BBC has been made aware of how we feel and that it was the first item on POV.Things were hugely improved yesterday, and we saw proper training, and I hope that will continue. Yesterday's show was much more like the 'old' Strictly, and so much better.

That's promising. I complained last year and got the bog standard brush off.

I'm so glad the dreadful VTs have been raised but I can't see the clip on the IPlayer because I am a very, very bad person and live in the Republic of Ireland. We are allowed to watch the glorious Beeb on Sky, Freeview et al but the IPlayer is a no no for us because of international viewing rights and all that. Oh, and probably because we don't have to pay the British licence fee. I'll look forward to reading these forums to see how it all pans out.

West Yorkshire is in the Republic of Ireland. I'm so going to find that old geography teacher and give him a piece of my mind...

If its any consolation, I can't watch iplayer cos I have dreadful broadband, almost the same speed as the old dial up

Pleased to see that they spoke about it... perhaps it'll put a stop to the rest of the dumbing down!

eta - oh you crafty - you've changed your location

Nothing will change,

The BBC will think that a few viewers have had an opportunity to make their point. I'm only surprised they didn't find a few letters from viewers who say they like the comedy VTs.

Letters of "mild complaints" about anything are usually balanced with an equal number of those of "effusive praise" on that little entertainment show.

You say that but the comedy VTS have decreased signfiicantly this year - they seem to have been confinded to the theme nights and apart from Richard/Erin and Dani/Vincent they were conspicious by their absense. Someone somewhere is listening!

If they disappeared completely and we went back to seeing the competitors on two or three days a week and were able to assess how their training was progressing, then I'd believe it. But you've got Ian Waite clowning around now with his big telly, so they probably think it unnecessary.

Don't forget that as the number of contestants decreases there will be more time to fill with trivia. If the BBC thinks this sort of stuff will pull in extra viewers they'll do it regardless of a few complaints, which are likely to be less than 0.1% of the total viewers,

So don't hold your breath.
