Well everybody will have their own ideas about who they'd like to return. To be honest it's more about the fundemental aspects of the show, that the show is focussing on the right things, and the writing, and making sure all the writers are on the same page about the type of show H&A should be. Get that right and you can make the show work with any characters and things like changing a set don't really matter.
They have tried to bring the show back to its roots before - sometimes successfully, sometimes not. But they never stick at it long enough. After a few months it's back to drugs and crime again. |

I think with the big Neighbours shake up of 2013 there will be a big H&A shake up around 2014 with contracts up for renewal etc.

What the OP wants will only happen if they complete clear the decks with most of the producers and writers.

You could argue that Dan Bennett (despite having a successful and in many ways enjoyable era) actually started the show on its downward spiral by introducing too much drama and crime with not enough follow-through which only got worse and worse after he left, finally getting to this point where many viewers have had enough.
However a revert back to how the show was in 2005, despite its flaws, would be a massive improvement. Bevan Lee I think has pretty much washed his hands of the show. |

They were both different storylines.
The Sarah Lewis storyline was in 2004 and really only had a couple of episodes of violence/crime, afterwhich it was all about the emotional fallout. This was Bevan Lee. He had nothing to do with the stalker storyline. In 2005 Daniel Bennett wrote the stalker storyline and linked it back to the Sarah Lewis story. This story was all about the violence, crime and drama which went on for months. After it finally ended there was very little emotional fallout and it was straight into the next dramatic storyline (which was Brett Macklin destroying the Bay). It was still a very good storyline and a million times better than what we have now. |

Well it's just love and relationship storylines mixed with violence/crime/drugs drama. Neither of which is what H&A should be exclusively about.
As you said in your first post, there's no family drama or feeling of community. When was the last time someone was fostered and they actually showed the effect of being fostered on a child? The last time they really focussed on it, that I can think of, was Jai in 2008, and IMO even that was done badly. |

I have given up hoping for any changes, I accepted a while ago the show has changed beyond recognition and I very much doubt that any EP who comes along now will want to change it back. This is why I have stopped watching but I still watch the Early Years every week as that is the REAL Home and Away.
