Depends which suit you best - there is no definite answer to this question

The iPad 3 is a large tablet so not really suitable then. You would be looking at the 7” tablets so the Nexus 7 is probably best.

I don’t think you can get Office for a tablet but you can get plenty of other similar software.

yep - MS office is unavailable but there are several options that allow read/write of office documents available in the Google Play store.

If you want office then have a look at Microsofts Surface tablets, they come with office pre installed.

Though the iPad 3 is perfectly OK for the tasks you mention I would recommend the Galaxy Tab 2 or the Galaxy Note 10.1.

No way would I recommend the Tab 2 or the Note above the iPad,I have the Tab 2 and the iPad 2 and have tried the Note. The iPad is in a class of its own.

I would. I've both the note (phone) and the galaxy tab 2. I'm going to buy a 7 inch tablet in a week or so most likely the nexus 7, although I am also considering the kindle fire HD. The iPad mini is not even on my radar.

Im curious, what usage do you have for a 7 inch tablet that you can't already do with a 5.5 inch phone and 10.1 inch tablet?

I always thought the usage case for the note was that its like a small tablet rather than a phone.

After using the note for a while it has become very ordinary in size. Basically I want somehting bigger than my note but smaller than then my 10.1 inch tablet to carry around with me on a day to day basis.

No you didn't. Nonetheless, it's still an iPad, which clearly isn't wanted.

I wish people would read the threads properly.I did not say it would suit anybody,I said the iPad is in a different class to the Tab 2 in reply to a poster who said the Tab 2 was superior to the iPad,And I have both.

I guess the problem is you just stated it without giving reasoning at all. Maybe if you were write a little more explaination as to why you think it's in a different class then people could decide.

I have had the iPad 1 and 2 since they came out,the iPad performs exceptionally well in nearly everything. The Tab 2 I've had for about 3 months and does not feel as slick and polished like the Ipad in general.I spose you could compare it to a Ford Focus and a Jaguar...No disrepect to the Focus cos I have one myself, and used to have the Jag.... The iPad is still generally used as the benchmark for tablets by the powers that be,and they agree, mostly, that the iPad is still the best.
Phew aint wrote a comment as big as that since I was at school and I'm coming up to 70 now.
Edit When the Tab 2 gets Jellybean it will feel a lot slicker but will not make it comparable with the iPad imho.Btw I did flash a Jellybean mod on my Tab 2 but reverted back to the official firmware as I prefer to wait for the official update.
Amen...............

Just office type application for anything other then very light usage is a real pain without a keyboard. If document editing is a priority for you then look at something like Asus transformer range which has a built in keyboard option.

Also remember that ipad does not have USB connectivity you are you either going to have to connect it to a PC or some sort of online storage to get documents on and off.

Yes true, Dropbox on your iPad or any Android device is a blessing.

You can also get an attachable Bluetooth keyboard. I have one for my galaxy tab.

Ipad 3/4 are much better than the galaxy tab 10 inch.

The game may change with the nexus 10 which has a proper hd display.

Get a nexus device if you go for android then you dont have to wait for upgrades and the samsung bloatware etc

The galaxy tab 2 also has a proper HD display (1280 × 800) although the resolution on the iPad 3 and 4 is higher.

1280 * 800 is nasty on a 10 inch tab when you have used an iPad retina for web browsing/photos etc particularly in portrait, unless your eyesight is poor. I've used galaxy tab 10 inch tabs and they just don't cut it either is smoothness of use.

The nexus 10 is surely a no-brainer choice for Android in the 10 inch tablet market given the spec, price point and the fact that you will get os updates when google release them. It seems ironic that the nexus 10 is actually a Samsung tablet

you can but the transformer keyboard offers a lot more then just being a keyboard. They also have option of HD displays if that is what you are after. And don't forget amazing battery life.
