I dont use the search very much but I assume if you deleted all the surplus channels you never watch or want under the channel editing in Freesat settings then one would think they would not show up in the search.

I've noticed a bug in the search, when you are in the list of episodes and press record it also tries to record the current programme (from the mini screen(!)and not the option behind it, which I can see, is the series record!

You need to press OK not record. The record button records the time shift buffer contents - ie what you are watching.

surely as this is within the menus and we are looking to record a programme logic would be to record?

OK is used on all Humax boxes to set a recording either from the epg or from a epg search. On a Foxsat-hdr pressing record on a selected epg item creates a one off manual recording with no accurate recording or series options offered. Not tried this on the hdr-1000s.

It's the same on the 1000S.

That box doesn't use Humax software it's written by Youview.

From the freetime manual. Recordings. From Search - Record straight from the Search results by pressing OK and selecting RECORD.

So we've established that it's doing what it says on the tin, however I too find this quite counter-intuitive, when pressing "Record" on something you've highlighted actually records something else entirely.... I know everyone should 'RTFM' but even so....

Using your new freesat+ box with <free time>. Item 5 page 15. As the youview box doesn't even have a epg search then it's not really relevant at all

The glossy guide (that seems to be all there is of a manual) lists five ways to record a program (see page 15):

one touch record live TV - press RECORD
from Now & Next banner - press RECORD
from TV guide - press RECORD
from Showcase - press RECORD
from Search - press OK then RECORD
Why is the the logic different from the Search page? It's caught me out a couple of times.

Even better if you search and set two programs in quick succession the current buffer is recorded twice. That's just plain stupid.

Do you mean in the search ok then the button record or ok then up arrow until record.

That is confusing

Apart from recording the buffer, OK works from anywhere. Just think of the record button as recording what you are watching live.

1.

I maybe missing it but I would like to see an option of selecting a recording and entering the time I want to start watching from.

Eg. Say I planned to go out so set it to record an hour program. My lift was late so I got to see the first 15 mins as it aired. When I get back I want to start the recording off from 15mins. At the moment the only options seem to be to watch from the start or where you left off but I was watching the live airing not the recording so my only option is to start from the beginning and fast forward 15mins. I would prefer to be able to just enter 15mins and start the recording from that point. Hope that makes sense.

2.

When rewinding or fast forwarding I cant seem to slow the pace of it down. So if I go to x4 FF I can't drop back to x2 say when approaching the point I am wanting to start viewing from. Nothing worse than flying past the point. At present you can only seemingly press stop or play to stop the FF/RR then press it twice more to get back to x2 speed.

I second this, one of the features missing from the box is the direct time code jump the Foxsat-hdr has.

EG. While viewing a recording tapping in say 0025 jumps instantly to 25 minutes.

Some features added from the foxsat would be nice. The screensaver was a good feature. Also things like changing the channel automatically when the two channels you are recording start. It just asks you if you want to change channel, what if I've just nipped out and missed what I really want to watch. What your recording comes on top of the screen when recording starts. Other things like the USB copying and so on have already been mentioned. Why take certain features off altogether why not just give you options in the menu to turn them on or off yourself. Not the fault of the 1000s but ITV players picture could be a lot better. Its like VCR quality and a bit blurry. Just hope when C5 and C4 release the catch up service the quality of the picture is on par with iplayer.

What no Screensaver and if you leave it on it won't automatically switch channels to start a recording ?

It's got to have

HDMI-CEC

I was going to buy one but with the lack of HDMI-CEC control I won't be buying.

Yes it does automatically switch channels to start a recording. If you are watching another channel it will display a message box giving options to record or watch. If unanswered it will switch the current channel and start recording.

Never left it just incase. But I would have missed the start of the program. Just hope the next firmware update is soon and fixes some of the problems.
