I can't see any mention of Turkey or Vestel.
Thought they made their TVs for Europe in the Czech Republic? |

Thought they made their TVs for Europe in the Czech Republic? I'll make this short and sweet. First of all I would like to point out I am a big Panasonic fan and have owned many of their tvs. Ok .. To start , I have been in the electrical retail trade for many years and this tv is terrible. It really is. I bought this since the 32C4 ( an excellent LCD tv for the money ) it replaces was not available. There is nothing Panasonic about this tv. The picture quality is ..em.. well it's a tv picture , and a very average one at that, that's all I can say. Movement is terrible and the viewing angle is pathetic ( without it having a white film across it) . Everything about this tv is cheap and nasty.. The remote, the plastics of the tv itself ..maybe the fact that it's made in Turkey and not in the Czech Republic like other Pan tvs is the reason. The user menus and even the remote look like something out of the very 1st LCD tvs from about 8yrs ago. As I said earlier, nothing about this tv relates to previous Panasonics and I think Panasonic have made a HUGE mistake puting their name on this product, obviously made for them by somebody else. |

This should be moved to the TV and Home Entertainment Technology section.
There's a tantalising preview in Which? "Panasonic has a strong TV pedigree, with a long list of Best Buy awards from yesteryear. The Panasonic Viera TX-L32C5 is a fairly cheap addition to the Viera 32-inch LCD TV canon and it has a nice easy-to-use EPG. Can the picture and sound match the standards hit by Panasonic in the past?" It then castigates the TV and says it's a "don't buy" TV. Vestel is not the only Turkish TV manufacturer. Beko-Grundig is another large player, smaller companies include Antek and Profilo Telra... and probably more. However, Panasonic's Sanyo subsidiary did outsource production to Vestel so there is a connection between the two companies. As Panasonic is projecting a $9.5bn loss and its purchase of Sanyo has come at the worst possible time, it may well be following Toshiba's route in introducing a Turkish-manufactured budget range. However, this model looks set to damage the Panasonic brand and certainly makes the "who makes the best tv?" question harder to answer in one sentence. |
