Mine would be a proper Bakewell Tart.

Sounds like a 1930s music hall act.

It's a little butterscotch cake from the local bakers. Cuboid shape with nice sponge, layer of buttercream. It's covered with a butterscotch icing.I had to google chester cakeI'd never heard of it.

I had looked forward to a proper Bakewell Tart for years, when I had one I never got past a bite. Very disappointing.

I like a cinnamon and raisin danish.

Probably an eccles cake fresh from the oven. I used to like those little frangipane/coconut things...like a bakewell but with coconut. I may have to try baking those as the shop bought taste like cardboard nowadays.

I also like a pineapple custard danish. But you get in a mess eating it as the pinapple syrupy stuff goes everywhere

"Proper"? Then it's not a tart - it's Bakewell PUDDING.

Bakewell tarts are an abomination.

A Mr Kipling lemon (but only lemon, not keen on the the pink or brown ones) Fondant Fancy with a cuppa is the biz.
They used to sell packs of just the lemon ones, probably a good thing for my waistline that they've stopped.

Yes proper, as in not one of those Cherry Bakewells that come in packets of six. A Bakewell Tart and a Bakewell Pudding are two different, albeit similar, entities.
