Hello Part 268 and Congrats to Mushroom Hair on getting the OP!
Just to re-cap on a bit of this afternoon....I do kind of want JT but if things are that angsty to the end I'm not sure how it will fit. Still worrying about the end, not convinced they'll go together. Nor convinced they'll even get the last scene. Not thinking about it too much because it's too depressing for me!
Back to tonight.....err, well it was strange and some weird choices and dialogue. Not all bad, but not that good.
I did enjoy the scene with Syed and Tam and absolutely love that Tam is going for breakfast at Syed's. Loved him bascially telling Syed he is an idiot, in his own special Prince Tam way.
Zainab's return did my head in. I'm not really sure why she is apologising so much for going off when Masood told her to go - she then went, he admitted he told her to go but is angry with her for going. "We needed you here". She feels that's she's in the wrong but is also still angry with them all, and then says to Denise they are all angry with her. Which they were. Err....ok.
Massively messed up family dynamics, boy oh boy - no wonder Syed has issues.

Both his parents can't even keep to one particular point of view about things even within the same conversation. He really, really, really does need to get away from them all.
I found the bench scene with Zainab interesting, he did seem almost angry with her for not being angrier at him over the business going bust. I felt he seemed really messed up - I didn't mind the scene. Major self destruct mode. He's almost deliberately sabotaging everything around him as he's so messed up.
I did like the Roxy scene too, thought she was fine with him and not OTT like she usually is. Rare for me but when she's ok I will say it.
I thought the scene in the nursery with Kat was very odd, Syed acting odd as well. The prison line seemed too extreme to me because I've just not seen enough of him feeling trapped with Yasmin before now and we haven't had enough of it shown this year, earlier. So it felt very forced to me. I think done mainly for soap irony, as he then says it's where he wants to be, 'throw away the key' (really didn't like that line) - this is all mainly, IMO, because of Amira's arrival. One minute the storyline seems to be about him wanting to be a success in business, then wanting Danny and needing to experience a bit of sexual freedom, now suddenly it's all about feeling imprisoned by parenthood. I can buy all of this but I would rather we'd had some clear and better indications because I don't feel it's been shown, that's what happens when there are massive blackholes and no long term plan for the characters.
Amira - well, we got absolutely no facts about the new man, the circumstances and how they met - and I agree that surely Syed would have asked questions. Maybe we might see some of this on Thursday, I really do hope so. All incredibly rushed and rather cardboard cut out. I think he does question whether he's done the right thing in giving up Yasmin later on so that is good. Agree that Amira, although it didn't come from a place of malice, it is selfish and niave to simply expect to swan back in and just take Yasmin away without it being done gradually, or even ask permission! Not ok with this at all!
I feel the child has to be paramount and you cannot simply hand them over if they have bonded, she won't remember Amira properly, so yes, I agree, it's totally wrong and contact should be introduced gradually. Much too sudden if not, and as Amira said it was a whirlwind romance then that does set alarm bells ringing. And Yasmin will be frightened. I hate the assumption by society that the child should automatically be given to the mother. I don't begrudge Amira her time away though and I do have sympathy for having had a child in such difficult circumstances which would have been really dreadful to deal with. So I'm glad she's found happiness. Really hope we get to see the boyfriend, I thought there were some tweets from an actor to JP - which seemed to indicate some scenes.....really hope they've not been cut. I hope we do see her make it clear they can be in Yasmin's life and also I'd quite like to see her tell Syed he ought to get away from his parents and start again, also of course am hoping she'll tell him to fight for Christian.
So for me it started off okay, but then some of it felt forced and rushed and poorly explored. So that's my moany post for this evening.
