Am I the only one who cannot rewatch Stendan scenes anymore?

There's pretty much only one episode I can rewatch, and that is it. I don't even know why.

I find it hard because I know this stuff is just going to trump everything because it seems like it's leading towards something good!

Re-watching stuff that only leads to bad isn't really as satisfying as what we are seeing on screen at the moment

I love the old stuff but happy Stendan just wins every time.

Bit like Emmett really! Both got lovely lashes and lots of hair. Kieron's skin is gorgeous as well though. Emmett's clearly been in more wars. Both sexy. But differently.

Oh that's very true. They both have qualities that are very attractive. Emmett's a bit more rough but in a really good way, and Kieron's more fresh faced. Both utterly lovely

I saw you watched CC! What were your thoughts?

I rewatch quite a lot - why can't you?
Well I went through a phase of ultimate Stendan overdose and it just kept escalating. I'm guessing now is me coming off the Stendan high.

Maybe I over-think things as well. Every amazing scene between them is something sad, and I just don't feel like being sad. The only one I rewatch is "It's alright, isn't it? When it's just you and me?".

I find it hard to watch really old stuff, like 2010 and Cat Friday or early 2012 where their always bitching because they are both so different and it's really weird

But I want new stuff rather than dwelling on the old now, so I totally get that.
They really have changed a lot. It's weird. I don't know.

Oh I was rewatching the "And yes, he's a man" episode. I do love that. You feel the progression already. It makes Dublin feel so much closer.

The differences in sexy really make for explosive sexiness when they come together though!

...Pun intended
Yep, that's completely it. It's the differences between them that make it so sexy I think. Age, build. They have similarities, and they're both gorgeous, but you've got dark and fair, and a little difference in height and bulk, one rougher round the edges and the other more delicate, and then the age gap. Seriously hot stuff.

It'll be so nice and yet sad at the same time to be able to watch the start of Stendan's story knowing there's an actual ending to it. For so long it's like it's been on "buffering" like you don't know if its gonna start up again and get to the end, just stuck.

That reminds me of how GT described them. I can't remember the exact words but it was something like that and something about eye-popping chemistry.

Join the club. I sometimes feel bad for ranting about how much hate him, but the way they're writing him, I just can't help it. Nowt against PJ in real life as he seems lovely, but I just can't bear to look at Doug as all I'm thinking is how much time is getting wasted, how much precious Stendan time is getting wasted on such a rubbish, pointless pairing!

Just in from work and looking at Soap Scoop (spent all night anticipating it like I do every weekend recently ) Nothing new for me really except for that Ste finds the recording at the reception. I'm hoping he goes absolutely ballistic at Doug. I want angry Ste. Really angry, like flinging chairs and centre pieces and small children and and shouting. But I highly doubt it will manifest to that

I find coma Ste oddly sexy

I did! It was way better than I was expecting. I don't just mean Emmett. I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse, but I lived through 80s yuppie culture, and the feeling that you've lost your country to a bunch of w*ankers. There were a lot of movies around at that time, like After Hours, that had a real nightmary quality. It was like that. So I thought it was flawed, and I wasn't sure about the ending, but parts of it were really good. And Emmett's performance was pretty extraordinary. So yeah ... very glad I watched it.

I hardly ever rewatch O&O, partly just because I'm really busy. But that's one I come back to. It just says everything to me. Swoony, but also dark.

I had to laugh earlier at a line in Suburgatory Tess said "no one named Doug is a Psychopath". She clearly hasn't seen the knife wielding one in Hollyoaks

Mojo will have it. But it was something to do with rough burly Irishmen and delicately handsome radiant youths.

I totally get it, I do find it so strange to watch some of the old stuff.and anything I didn't like I don't even go near.

I only really watch July to November these days and then I barely re-watch lots of times.

I found that it was one of those films you were unsure of but just couldn't look away Ah it's really good you understood those references, it was before my time but I think I got the overall meaning. He's completely different to Brendan isn't he? And yet I find him so fascinating, Emmett plays him to perfection. I love the police station scene especially and the scenes where you couldn't quite work out if he genuinely felt any remorse or not.

It's strange though, because I remember when I watched them during the first kiss scene my initial reaction was 'They make such an odd pairing!' At first I just didn't see why Brendan would go for Ste. Not even in a looks way, but just the contrast of them both was so stark it didn't make sense initially because Ste just seemed so young!

Even my flatmate said 'They make such an odd couple! I just don't know why Brendan would go for Ste, he's like this big man's man and Ste's a little waif!' but I think he now realizes why after he watched an omnibus You really have to see them together to understand the dynamic.

I think it's so good the way Brendan has this 'type.' Like with Macca and Ste and probably Vinnie too. It's like he has this 'type' of young, boyish, vulnerable...and it makes sense because it's almost like his 'type' is the person he used to be before he became what he was He goes for young, vulnerable guys who have a violent streak. I love that. It's like the writers didn't even have to think about this stuff, it just all fits together so well sometimes that I can't believe it! You can't plan details like that, and probably as a viewer I come to conclusions about the character myself, but it works so perfectly that they may as well have planned the whole thing!

That is some quality characterization and story-lining.

I don't know if the references were deliberate! It just reminded me. Those films that are set almost all at night, they have this claustrophobic feeling, like morning will never come.

He really is completely different. I know you guys commented on the voice, but that high nasal voice he uses for Charlie is nothing like his own, even. I'd say he's totally amoral, or he turns himself into that because he can. Almost the opposite of Brendan really, who's tortured by remorse. I thought the scene on the roof with Kevin was the best. I sort of knew where it might be heading, but it was still a shock. Very strange, but yep, worked for me!

Oh I'm sure they were! And wow that's a really good way of thinking about it. Even the rooms they were in were quite contained and claustrophobic.

Yeah I thought that when I watched it again recently, it's completely different. I think the scene where he laughed after he'd gone out in the car near the start was where I saw a glimmer of remorse. And then you have his father telling him he's bascially a piece of sh*t too. Oh that scene was brilliant, I gasped!

That's what appealed to me as well at the beginning. I think some of it was just really inspired planning, a general feel that PM and the writers had for how it would work, and some of it was pure luck, with the chemistry. But all of it just flew, from the start. That's why it's made me bang my head on the keyboard sometimes when the story has got so bent out of shape. There's no need for it. It's all right there, the story they want to tell, in Ste's background, and Brendan's, and in what they mean to each other. It practically tells itself. But sometimes it's felt like the show wants to do anything but.

And yet ... here they still are, and so are we.
