So sorry for such a late reply. This is the first time I've looked at the thread since this I posted last.
I do definitely see where you're coming from, of course. And I loved all the Father Des scenes. It's just to me, it makes sense that he would say the thing about his dad because after everything that's happened recently, and with the counselling pushing it, it's in his head. He knows exactly why he's so screwed up. And with Father Des, it wasn't pushed for so it's obviously easier to volunteer just a smidgen of information that actually creates a massive picture, and then let it be dropped, you know?
It's one of those things we're obviously never gonna know other way, but to me....I'm not sure he would have brought that up so easily if the counselling hadn't already put it there.
