(They're only 90 mins on a train, no trouble there then even if he was to get in which is very unlikely because a) he likes football but he's totally rubbish at it and can't even get into the B team subs bench most weekends, and b) he'd already had a really good idea about applying to a local airline (he wants to join the RAF). Having this darn 'you can be what you want to be if you work hard enough at it' carrot waved in front of him has really messed with his head.

Sounds like his teacher is a Local Authority Ed Psych in the making!

I get this all the time - he can be whatever he wants to be - B0110(&$ - he has strengths which we need to play to, setting him on a vocational path at the earliest opportunity, because in our family we live in the real world, not in Ed Psych fluffy world instead! GRRRR!

..now where's that soapbox again!

Welcome back from Bognor. Can I just say that although I was born abroad, my parents address when I traced my family tree shows I was probably conceived in Bognor. You might say I was always going to be trouble....

So glad to see you back!”

I didn't bother with this forum after I was told I would be in Bognor until evening time today.

I realised whenever SCD series air, I kinda lose my 'social' (i.e. real) life and become quite insular. Managed to get a new(ish) car (the old car was 13 years old, too expensive to pay £500 everytime for the past five years just to get it road worthy) and became quite OCD about it.

Exactly... thats it EXACTLY!!! Grrrrr

He is a brainy little so and so - doing 12 GCSEs and had intended to join the RAF on a commission and now he's got his head full of shi8e about being paid to do football.

Sorry - off topic I'd rather he took up a career on the stage than football! But I don't think he'd be a dancer -same problem as footie - two left feet

Now I am shutting all the doors to my house and only keep one puny electric heater in my bedroom to keep meself warm.

Don't worry though, I've had a lot of food to keep me warm when I am feeling cold and peckish.

I completely understand. We got a new maths system in the nursery and maths is my area of responsiblity. I am completely OCD about it - when we are tidying away, I am convulsing inside while positively encouraging the children to help put it all away.....and if a piece ever went missing.....

I was very active on this forum for a few years and found it taking over my life so backed away. I've been signed off work for a month now - sort of gardening leave - and boredom led me to have a bit of a peek at the Masterchef Aus and SCD threads and here I am ... living life in my front room

Oh and my car is 1991 VW Golf and cost me £1.60 for a rear light bulb for the last MOT and £32 for a spot of welding on the previous years. I think I'll keep it for a while yet!

The Ed Psych- type are full of crap! At M's reviews (he has SEN, a statement and is classed as having 'complex and diverse' needs!) the Ed Psych talks about 'how will he feels about that?' and 'are we pushing him out of his comfort zone if we ask for that?' She doesn't even know him, he is a happy affable lad and we'll know if he's not happy. As for pushing him out of his comfort zone - of course we are! M knows exactly how much each teacher and TA will expect of him, and exactly how to get out of doing any more than the bare minimum with them, and if he didn't have SEN they would give a toss about his comfort zone!

Stick with it Freckle, you care about him for ever, they only care about him while he's at school! (I think you can tell I've used that line in a review before)

I laughed out loud today at ITT .Hubby was eating his dinner and I had it on .He pays no attention at all but when Julien Mc Donell was extoling the virtues of Victorias dress hubby without lifting his head from his dinner growled " That plonker so wishes he was wearing that dress "

Oh dear, speaking of secretly tearing my hair out when I try to clean up the mess that other people made at work.

Wow. You are one lucky fella!

My newish car was a showroom car, and they 'topped up' the seven year warranty even though it was about 15 months old. I traded in my old old yaris plus paying in full and got a further £450 off the price tag!

I know, my car is small and very 'girlish', but I don't care. Sick and tired of having to pay through the nose whenever I have to fill the tank (and yaris, I can assure you, is supposed to be an 'efficient' car when it first appear in the market).

You go ahead and push too... my friends son is so severely dyslexic that the school told her not to expect any GCSEs passes and to plan his future accordingly. He got 2 x B, 1 x C and 2 x D. All through her sitting down and repeatedly going over and over and over and over and so far out of his comfort zone that she thought the pair of them would have nervous breakdowns. He's staying on for 6th form now and has completely turned around his attitude to learning cos he knows he CAN do it despite what his school said.

*on topic* bit like Michael with his Foxtrot after his Jive really..

With Louis helping him zip up...

I must be getting more tolerant to him - he didn't wind me up as much. But I don't like him...and get a very bitchy vibe from him.

I'm hoping thats the female version of fellow Nothing to do with luck - its careful driving over the last 21 years that's done it. And having a pet mechanic I am nursing it through its twilight years - hiring a car if I'm going on a long journey so as to spare it the trauma of a lead foot on the motorway

Ah, careful driver, then!

Yaris was perfect until I had an accident when I drove to the hospital 5 years ago for my daily radiotherapy. I wasn't fit to drive then, and nearly killed myself on the road. The car was a complete write-off. Then I got the money from the insurance and bought another yaris, but the second hand yaris had 80,000 miles on it already...

I think he misheard her - or I did. I thought she said"I've been told those aren't gold-daze', so what are they?" and he just launched a description of 'gold daze' at her... but he was a bit snarly wasn't he.

I have a feeling Zoe is being polite but taking the mick anyway...

(How do you spell them anyway - tried about three different ways and all looked wrong!)

Gold daze? I don't know I just spell as I hear them. I must be miles off from the correct spelling as it might be some pouncy French word or something...

Blimey - as if it wasn't bad enough having to go to radiotherapy! Hope the accident didn't leave any lasting effects.

I don't go very far in my car so although its 21 it only has 152k miles on the clock. Which is a lot, but not as much as it should be! I was very lucky - one of my work colleagues sold it to me for practically buttons as his wife won a car in a competition and I was desperate for a car quickly! It was 8 months old when I got it as an 'it'll do for the time being' purchase, with 3k miles on it

When Julian was a judge on Project Catwalk he was INCREDIBLY nasty. I know I drag this story out of mothballs every month or so, but he told one designer in the final she shouldn't win because she was too fat, and fat people couldn't design clothes for thin models, because they didn't understand them.
