i just heard on the radio (HTC FM) that jon from g4 is going solo??? that's way too soon. so much for loyalty. huh. i think this stinks to high heaven. it's just a way round the "no contract for second place". i bet louis walsh has lured him away with promises of moisturiser and hair gel.

He's already denied it, so no.

I guess we should all take with a pinch of salt all these different stories going around at the minute.

There are some comments about that in the Radio 1 story. Like all the other stories of what is happeng with G4, I'd take this with a pinch of salt.

Even I wouldn't believe that, not for a couple of months anyway. He wouldn't dare announce that with a tour still to do with the guys.

I've not seen this radio 1 story and won't bother looking .Sounds like they are just guessing about G4's future and using recent comments to make a story. To be expected I guess.

By the way what is htc FM-I don't know that station.

To save you the bother

Quote:
“From Radio 1 News

'The X Factor' losers G4 reckon they could have a career like Beyonce's.

They're still being managed by Louis Walsh and want to put out an album, but they haven't signed a deal yet.

A further spanner in the works is that under 'The X Factor' rules, they're not allowed to release anything within three months of winner Steve Brookstein.

But, bass voice Matthew says whatever happens they'll stick together:

"We're going to continue as a group - I don't think the group would ever split up."

"We may go and do our own thing, but we'd be perfectly happy with that."

"We might do a Destiny's Child and disappear, have a solo career and then come back."

"That would be great, but at the moment we're G4 and we want to see how far we can go with it."”

My feeling is its no different from all the G4 have a deal threads - Don't belive anything you read until confirmed by a press conference.

Thank you for that-as you say nothing is confirmed till G4 themselves say so.

I do think they have a deal though-time will tell.

I can only go by what they said live on GMTV yesterday morning in relation to these rumours and they seemed resolute that they were sticking together.

Who knows what's going on behind the scenes but it seems to me watching the interview, that the guys are getting a bit of pressure.

They were keen to tell us that no matter what, including the "pressure that Jon is under" that they are all a team and want to stick together.

Let's hope so for the sake of what made them in X-Factor....i.e. G4

Well it's not like they go way back - they only got together in the last year didn't they?

But you're right, it is way to soon for this to happen, although I am positive it will in the future.

Diana Ross and The Supremes anyone?!!

They are contracted to tour with the X factor tour, so there wouldn't appear to be any chance of them splitting for a few months yet. Having said all that, Jonathan will be under a lot of pressure to jump ship after that I think. (mainly from Louis) Not sure whether that would be a mistake or not. As I have said in other posts, I'm not a big fan of his voice but the guy can sing. Be nice to see them stick together and try to do something off the back of this, good luck to 'em.

It wouldnt be just Louis putting the pressure on. Simon Cowell has always wanted Jon to go solo and said as much in one of the Sunday tabloids. It has always been Jon he has singled out right from the very first audition. I still believe the group will stay together for the time being. But who knows what is going on behind the scenes?

If Jon were no longer in a group - does that give Simon a get out in the Contract - just a thought.

It would be a bit shitty for the other poor geezers in the group if this happened. But then that's showbusiness for you uh.

But it could have been carefully worded. Signed individualy whilst refering to G4 and not to individual members of G4

I think it does munta but Jon is very determined to stay as part of the group. He is very loyal and would have gone solo from the beginning if he wanted to pursue a solo career at this moment in time.

If John leaves, maybe the remaining members of G4 could ask Steve to join....

Now that would make for an interesting day on the forum.

It's always been my feeling that G4 will stay together and do their thing, and then eventually in the future go their separate ways into solo operatic careers.

I may be wrong, but I would think that each member has a similar ambition, both individually and as a group. In that respect I would expect any decisions that are made re the longevity of the group to be mutual, and not 'one member ditching the others' as has been suggested. I could also imagine each of them persuing their solo ambitions alongside 'G4'.

I don't know if anyone else noticed how quiet he was on GMTV. It seemed to me that these guys were under hidden pressures that they were being careful to conceal.

But on your point of loyalty. I just wonder what a million dollar contract can do to turn that around.

Just realised I didn't read whip's post properly earlier in which whip already referred to the tour... apologies whip...

It has already been mentioned on a record industry site that Simon Cowell is very enthusiastic to sign Jon as a solo singer but that there were two other great deals from Decca and Sony that were for the whole group. We will probably not know anything definite until after the tour.
