can anyone help?

my shuffle will not play any music since the last sync.
i have gone to the hardware device section in control panel, and the is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark by the ipod device.

u have uninstalled it and reinstalled, no luck.
i have also reset to factory in the itunes menue, still not luck, and the yellow triangle remains.
i have synced and unsynced and added new music dozens of times - the music appears to be added according to itunes, but then i take the ipod out and try to play it, there is no music, instead the little light on the shuffle will flash orange a couple of times then back to green everytime i press play.

i have had it a couple of years and its a life saver for the gym.
is it well and truley buggered and shall i buy a new one?
or is it fixable?

i think it may be buggered.

anyone know if there is an alternative to ipod shuffle not by apple? just a very small mp3 player.
in my humble opinion, ipods are utter crap.
