Curry with noodles?

Any one had Indian style curry with noodles?

Twice in the last couple of days i've seen on programmes where they had an Indian noodle dish.
One was in Eygpt where it was a fusion of Indian spices, Chinese noodles and middle eastern staples.

The other was from South Africa.

The Chinese are famous for their noodles. Curry wise i'm more used to the chipshop curry sauce with them

and you see Thai curry & noodles.

Along with India they also have pulses, potatoes and a lot of rice but you just don't seem to see Indian noodle dishes.

yes, a lovely lamb and chicken bhuna with egg thread style noodles. it was so nice, much better than serving it with rice.

never in a restaurant though, it's my auntie's recipe.

There's a Bangladeshi run restaurant in Brick Lane which serves noodles with their currys. I'm not a big fan of it, but i noticed the local Bangladeshi's really go for it. Perhaps it's a change for them as they usually cook rice at home.

In Sri Lanka we eat 'string hoppers' which are kind of a steamed rice noodle cake thing. Traditionally it's eaten with spicy coconut ('symbol') on the side, and a thin spicy milky gravy on top (kiri hodhi) but my parents and I often like the string hoppers with pork curry (I suppose it's an Indian style curry as the sauce is a little thick) on top.

Thanks. It doesn't seem that common.

Is this a family recipe, a regional one or something she thought up herself?

At one hotel we stayed in in Sri Lanka we had hoppers with eggs in them - they were delicious.

Curry I can eat with anything and the same with noodles.
If Indians had invented noodles they would always eat them with curry instead of rice.

Absolutly, thick egg noodles with curry is great, just different.

I also LOVE curry and mashed or crushed potato.... MMMmm

I did have a beef madras with mash the other week. It tasted more like a beef stew than a curry (I know you could say they are basically the same) and so thought it would pair well with mash.

Ooooh hoppers! Yummy! I love them, especially with spicy onions.

For those not familiar with Sri Lankan food:
Hoppers = crispy pancake made from rice flour
String hoppers = steamed rice noodle cake
Both delicious!

Personally I wouldn't like any sort of curry with wheat noodles, though I like curry with string hoppers or possibly rice vermicelli.

it's just something she thought up herself, but it's bloody lovely, particularly the next day as it goes so thick and the flavour intensifies. i much prefer the noodles than rice.

curry with chips is good.

can't recommend curry with spaghetti though, so i doubt if i would like curry with noodles.

Other things to try are cous-cous and quinoa.

Funnily enough I watched the new Madhur Jaffery programme last night and she made a kind of curry with noodles dish.

Split pea and tomato sauce with noodles

Not the curry sauce I was referring to in my OP. This one was dal dhokri with spiced pasta diamonds.
