You're absolutely right but I don't think she'd have stayed as long if she'd never have changed. Unfortunately you need to be a bit Madonna.

Look at Gail, didn't she and Roy run the cafe for decades? Now she simpers and smirks at the Bistro and generally behaves like an unprofessional imbecile. I wish they'd make her more Ivy and less idiotic!

Gail was great around the Hillman era and later on when Todd cheated on Sarah and came out as gay but they have lost their way with the character in more recent years; ditto the Websters.

Deirdre is okay when she is not running round clearing up Tracy's mess. Realistically she'd have kicked her out years ago and told her to fend for herself, no mother is that deluded and she knows Tracy offed Charlie without a shred of remorse.

She might have done but all I remember the old set with Gail and Roy and Toyah Battersby with a broom in hand! (when I actually liked Gail and she was just a normal mum! IT all went downhill after Martin left her!)

I am so glad to find out that I'm not the only one who it's only thanks to this thread that I know what Deirdre was talking about! I had never heard of Grazia before this!

Gail worked in the Cafe during the 80s. She bought a share of the Cafe from Alma in 1989 and they ran it together (a brilliant double act by the way). Alma sold her share to Roy in the late 90s and Gail soon followed suit. She didn't work with Roy for very long at all.

I personallly would sooner they made Gail the nice, pleasant, smily and independant person she used to be. No need to turn her into Ivy at all.

The writers should be ashamed of what they have done to her and Deirdre.
