Decent sub-£100 tablet?
itm

I'm looking for a reliable 7" tablet for under £100. It'll be used mainly as a bedside alarm clock/reader, so battery life is unimportant as it'll be plugged in.
The main things I'm looking for are a reasonably responsive capacitive screen, reasonable speaker sound quality and decent wifi range (it won't be that close to the router).
I currently have a 1st generation Storage Options Scroll tablet, but it lacks horsepower and frequently stutters when playing back an already-downloaded audio podcast. Hence I'm looking for something with a bit more oomph.
Can anyone recommend something from actual experience of using something under £100?

Do you own one of these yourself?

I’ve had one in the past and it would be fine for what you are looking to use it for. For the money it’s fine but have a Blackberry Playbook now.

Yes for the money the Playbook will blow anything out of the water below the same price.

I've just been reading a couple of forums regarding this, and there seems to be alot of focus on wifi issues - black spots, and signal dropping after a while, requiring wifi to be disabled/re-enabled. Did you experience any issues with the wifi?

WiFi range is pretty good on the Playbook, and the speakers are leagues ahead of almost every other tablet on the market.

It was the Ainol that I was asking about, rather than the Playbook

I didn't have any problems but I know from reading on the forums some of them did have Wi-Fi problems - don't know if that's been sorted now or now with newer Android versions

In your original question you were asking about wifi range, I've found it to be excellent on the playbook.

And its speakers are - as both I and others have said on various forums - extremely good.

As for the wifi range problem on the ainol, I'd be tempted to say its more likely down to hardware - software would likely be responsible for wifi totally stopping (as it does on my Vega, can't be bothered to install the latest updates), wifi range isn't likely to be down to software.
