I got this the other day and i have to say i was blown away with it.

I enjoyed Max Payne 1 & 2 and tottally forgot 3 was already out and picked it up for a good price on play.com.

firstly I'm going to say I loved the way the game was structured, the storytelling was amazing, the gameplay awesome. I totally loved it when you shot the enemies there face would just cave in with the impact of the bullet. I haven't seen that in a game before so i was amazed by that.

It also kept me playing there are 14 chapters all quite a decent length and for me a satisfying ending, cause usually games these days slack on a good ending.

Rockstar you did me proud

What are your thoughts on Max Payne 3?

Bought it at launch as a massive fan of the first two games and absolutely loved it, so much so that i played through it again and completed it on the hardest difficulty (it's a rarity for me to play through a game twice these days). I'd say it's a toss up between Max Payne 3 and Mass Effect 3 for my GOTY so far (i know people like to whine about the ending of ME3, but the preceeding 30 hours or so were magnificent), Max Payne 3 probably clinches it though if i had to choose.

Hopefully we see a Max Payne 4 sometime in the future.

I liked it a lot, but i thought they really mis-stepped with Payne's internal monologue. There were hardly any overwrought metaphors. "the rain came down like all the angels in heaven taking a piss at the same time", etc. It didn't feel Max Payney enough.

Can't agree. Very dull in parts and somewhat samey as another poster has said.

Cliched throughout. Probably in the top 5 but it's been a fairly weak year.

ME3 for me but it's tainted by numerous amounts of stupid people not understanding the ending and making them write new ones

To be honest i wouldn't recommend starting with ME3, the story and character development runs throughout all three games with your decisions and actions having an impact across each game, so if you started with ME3 you'd feel very disconnected from it all. If you're genuinely interested in the series then i'd recommend playing through all three games if you can. As a PS3 player ME2 would also be a decent start point as it features an interactive prologue that recaps the first game, although ME1 is about to be released on PS3 soon as part of the Mass Effect Trilogy edition (it'll also be a stand alone download on PSN if you don't want to fork out for the trilogy), i'd really recommend all three games though, they all still hold up and the storyline is really worth it. It's easily my favourite game franchise of this console generation, and it's got some of the best characterization i've ever seen in a videogame, i was so attached to some of the characters by the end of ME3 that it would have genuinely upset me if anything would have happened to them

Also, ignore all of the whiners complaining about the ending of ME3, no it's not the best ending ever, but it isn't the travesty that some of the more vocal fanboys would have you believe.

I enjoyed the game but wouldn't say it was my fave of the year. I liked seeing how the story unfolded but not in no rush to play through again to get all the gold guns and harder difficulty achievements. The statue and keyring I got with the game are quite nice though

So far Sleeping Dogs is my GOTY.

I have to agree. I really enjoyed every aspect of this game, the gameplay, the story, ending etc. Skyrim was jst behind it.
