Hello,

Quick question on the Samsung Galaxy S2. I have had this phone for a couple of week, and it's great.... except that it only displays the name of the sender/recipient in the text messaging application, and not the type of number (e.g. mobile/work).

Many of my contacts (most of them on Exchange Activesync) have several mobile phone numbers (e.g. one for work and a private one). The two numbers are stored in the appropriate fields (e.g. work phone/mobile phone).

When I open up the text messaging application, it shows a list of conversations, but contacts are only identified by name, not type of number. Thus I have two conversations with the name of my friend (let's call her Mary). One of them is her work phone but I don't know which one; the Galaxy S2 won't tell me.

Even if I go into Message options --> View message details, it only shows me her name and not the number, or the type of number. E.g.:

Type: Text message
From: Mary
Received: 17:45, 8 Nov

I find this very annoying as it makes it difficult to ensure that I reply to the number I want to reply to.

I have searched the internet, high and low, for solutions to this, with no success. Is this such an extravagant request? My previous phone (HTC Desire S) always displayed the type of number together with the name (e.g. "Mary (w)" or "Mary (m)").

If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Many thanks!

Not sure how to do this. If you are replying to a text surely other makes sense to reply to the one you are responding to?

When your sending a text to know if your sending it to their work number or personal number..
Press messaging
then press the envelope at the top of the screen instead of on a persons name
now start to type their name and it will apear with all the numbers you have stored for this person.
hope this helps.
