Hear bl**dy hear. The "I'm not attacking 'a', I'm only defending 'b' " is getting a bit tiresome now. Four days since the final, and we're still arguing over what is a done deal.

Everyone hopefully is big enough to take some gentle ribbing when it is given in the spirit of fun. Don't we all get enough angst in real (as opposed to cyber) life?

All the contestants have had a fantastic opportunity to jump-start or revive their careers - and make quite a good living if they use it wisely; probably more so than most forum members. So IMO now they are in the public domain, they are fair game for satire and speculation (as long as it's not too cruel ) - but why knock the stuffing out of each other on an internet forum over people we'd never even heard of till recently???

It's becoming impossible to pass comment without being accused of being on the 'other side', and very few threads are escaping the vitriol.

Forum in its dying throes, I suppose.

What I am starting to feel pretty strongly about is the comments of Kate during the final.I wish I had a recording of the final for confirmation but surely noone will argue that Kate left the viewers in no doubt that the voting was close
(I'm pretty sure she used the words Neck and Neck at one point)

So
1-Either Kate was telling lies to encourage more votes from viewers-if this is the case shame on ITV.
2-The press release is lies-if this is the case shame on whoever leaked this info as they have told total lies.

I know I said in another thread it does not matter and the final is history..but were lies are concerned I think it does matter.”

25,000 lines with calls lasting on average 3-4 seconds. Do your maths. Doesnt take that much to work out that if they can process 500,000 calls a minute then things can change very quickly and what Kate said was probably true, because in just a few minutes things can change completely.

Press Release is what it says it is. It isnt leaked. Its an official statement from the press office.

...so the only difference between Steve and G4 is about 6 minutes?

Any ladies out there willing to put it to the test?

You know what I agree with you-It is possible for massive votes to be cast for Steve in a short time but assuming you are correct and Kate was telling the truth what caused the situation to change from being too close to call to being the runaway win for Steve the press release claims.

Only Sharon's outburst could have caused such a swing in a matter of moments-don't you think.

I'm trying to remember-can anyone confirm if Kate was still talking about the vote being close during the final moments just before she named the winner?

If she was then someone is telling lies.

As far as I can remember, she only said that the vote was neck and neck after everyone had had sung once when there had been 1,000,000 votes, (after the second ad break methinks) and I would actually say that it was conspicuous that she DIDN'T ram the whole "too close to call" thing down our throats like normal. I remember noting that at the time and thinking, this is either a really good thing or a really bad thing...!!!

God, I wish I had been sober enough to pay attention to what Kate was saying! Nerves, excitment, anticipation, bottle of wine, corkscrew - not a good combination for me!!!

I remember her saying it was close when she was speaking to G4 when their families bit came on - that was just before the 3rd song.

it is annoying - i can handle if Steve won by loads (i would like something more offical than the Sun though, even if they do say ITV press release - surely that would be publidhed in other places, like the ITV website) but i voted loads more for G4 because she kept saying it was close.

Yep I think I recall that also-that was about the time of Sharon's outburst..

25, 000 lines?

No way. 10 Work experience students in a portacabin more like.

25,000?? It would cost a fortune to employ them all...

Glad you agree.

Who said the situation changed. Isnt it just possible that the voting dried up for G4, whereas support for Steve continued.

No Kate didnt mention the vote being close in the final moments. She simply gave the number of votes as around 8 million.

That would depend on who they are dialling though Steve If it was for G4's Jon I reckon it could be done in record time .

Lots of G4 fans in denial here.

MAYBE ...

i will reserve my judgement untill a somone points me towards a link that contains an official press release.

She did keep saying how close it was, every time she gave an update her first words were its close. The one thing she didn't say (I don't recall anyway) is that the lead kept changing. I remember Ant and Deck saying that but then that might be just there thing. She told Steve it was close, she told G4 it was close and she told us on numerous occasions too.

I'll be interested in the real figures too, these may well be right but they will be in for some stick if they are

Steve winning by such a big margin would make sense of Sharon's "Simon you know you've won this" during her ranting - I reckon Steve led the voting every single week. It will be interesting to see if they release the voting figures for each show as they did after Pop Idol 2. If they don't I will begin to smell a rat with Kate's "it is neck and neck" throughout the series
The Dreaming

How long did it take for the Pop Idol 2 voting figures to be released? I don't think the Fame Academy ones ever were, so I hope they don't follow that example
