Have been looking forward to this ever since they shut Glasgow down to film scenes.
But the trailer showed to much, it feels like its going to be comical! And I hope it isn't a pg/12 rating, 12A more likely

I just started the book, liking so far have heard its amazing

Alot of people saying it doesnt match the book, thats fairly normal but I imagine it covers most of the book just in a different way.

Either way will be at the cinema opening week for this!!

looks like lots of very ropey cgi zombie hoards, could be good but looks cgi heavy from that trailer, walking dead, dawn of the dead remake, and 28 days later have set the benchmark high, looks like it might be an epic fail.

I thought those zombies behaved like lemmings and that was it. I couldn't think of the film as World War Z. I'm thinking it as Lemmings: the Movie.

I'm hating this! It seems to have nothing to do with book at all.
Rumours are that it will be a PG-13 as well (*face-palm*).

It's not out till June next year, I wouldn't believe everything you hear about it's rating. They said that about Prometheus and it was still an R....

Also, what does a rating have to do with a film's quality? Do you really watch a film purely for the violence (other than films which exist purely for violence, eg. Taken)? You may as well just watch MMA, or your local town centre at 1AM on Saturday...

Whilst I'll agree with the rating comment (I enjoy many films that are rated PG-13), I'll state again ... A Zombie film about hordes of the undead taking over the world ... a PG-13?! Would "Dawn of the Dead" work as a PG-13? "Shaun of the Dead"? The fantastic "The Walking Dead" TV series cut to meet water-shed requirements?. That type of film needs to have a hard edge and uncomprising attitude. So please don't knock me for suggesting that this would have to be compromised for a PG-13 rating. It might only be a rumour anyway, as you say ...

Interesting that you mention "Taken", because "Taken 2" WAS cut dramatically to reach a PG-13 certificate. I certainly do not watch films purely for violence, but this film was knackered by cuts and made it look like Neeson had some kind of magical power in killing his opponents. I would suggest that this "A-Team" type violence is more mis-leading and disturbing than realistic violence being depicted in films.

Anyway, this seems to be some kind of "natural disaster" movie, than keeping to the book's values, which is why I've got the hump with the trailer. I sure other people can overlook that and look forward to the film ...

I read the book about a year ago and absolutely loved it, a unique, intelligent and very well written take on the ZA. However, it was quite obvious that the book as written would not translate easily to the big screen so it's no surprise htat the movie looks somewhat different. Will still be front and centre on opening night though!!

You can list examples of films that wouldn't work at a PG-13, but this is something different so the comparisons are irrelevant, it should whether the film in question works as PG-13 rather than other films of a similar nature...

The Walking Dead never felt that strong to me (apart from the Lori screwdriver incident in S2e1), but even the Germans gave quite a few episodes of season 2 an 18+ certificate, so maybe it's just me.

Both "Taken" and "Taken 2" were cut for a PG-13 (though less cuts were made within the UK - The only cut was to the torture scene), but that undermines the entire point of the film. Since the whole idea was a old style film in which a hard guy goes around beating the shit out of people. I got the impression World War Z was aiming for a bit more substance than that...

I disagree with the notion of this rule that 'zombies don't run'.


I think that some of the recent movies like the 28 days later series have reinvigorated the genre and kept interest in zombies going. Plus there are plenty of the more traditional variety of zombie movies also being made.



I also thought the trailer looked very good, though it's early days yet to tell if this will reflect the final quality of the film.


I don't know the book, so I have no preconceptions. Yes, it looks very CGI heavy, and it looks like it's going for an apocalyptic disaster type movie rather than a horror, but I don't have a problem with that.


I also think the idea of the zombies acting like lemmings and literally climbing over themselves is an interesting twist, and like I said before we need things like this to keep the genre going. Like I say, interest in the genre will allow more traditional zombie movies to carry on being made, so it's all good.
