How to make the perfect toastie

Ok, so last night i made a tuna mayo toastie and got really angry, the filling spilled out the bread didnt seems to fuse together like it should.

I butter both side of the bread put the filling in and then put the top side of bread on (again both sides buttered)

How do i make the pefect toastie to make sure the bread fuses together and keeps the filling in.

don't butter the outside?

cook on a medium temperature for longer rather than searing heat

I dont butter the inside of mine. Are you making yours in the frying pan or toastie machine?

don`t butter any of it and use bigger slices of bread.

I never butter the inside of mine, but I always have cheese, so I've never had a problem with it not fusing together.

My method (which is probably most people's) is to put a frying pan on a fairly high heat, butter a slice of bread and place it butter side down in the pan. Add the filling on top, then place a buttered slice of bread, butter-side up, on top. Once the bottom slice is golden, turn over really carefully. I've found tongs are the best way to go to avoid any spillage. Then once the other side is cooked, serve!

I dont like butter so I dont put any in my toastie, if I was having a tuna toastie I,d add 2 slice of cheese, tuna in middle, stick it in the george foreman for 5mins or so and thats it

If you like your toastie buttered on the outside you just try adding a thin 'scrape' of mayo over the top of it (before cooking), maybe doesn't sound great but tastes amazing!

For me, a toastie isn't a toastie without cheese

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I am using toastie machine and it was tuna mayo with spring onion and cheese.
