Against All Odds - Sales Predictions

Havent seen any thread about this yet. Remembering that Michelle sold 128,000 copies in her first week which wasnt bad - how many do people think Steve will sell?
Michelle's single was released in the quiet month of January whilst Steve's single will be hoping to make the most of the last minute Christmas rush and is also being released fairly quickly to capitalise on sales. I am thinking that he should sell around 180,000 copies and get to Number 1 or possibly climb to Number 1 in the New Year when Band Aid sales have dropped.

Tough to call-Steve could get to number 1 after Band Aid 20's Christmas run but it is more possible he will spend a few weeks at number 2.
I hope he gets a new year number 1 because I think Steve will not release many singles-he's more suited to making easy listening albums than the singles charts..and he needs to concentrate on what will give him the best chance of success-albums.

I too dont think long-term Steve is for the singles market, moreso the Album market..............However, Cowell + Co will look to rush release his debut album (a la michelle mcmannus) and the thing with that is that it could flop, and so could he. He needs to be very careful and not rush into releasing an album, its got to be a good album with great songs! We shall ce!

I think actually Simon said that they weren't going to rush Steve's album, that they would be working on material for at least six months before releasing anything... I don't know if 6 months is a long time or not prepare an album but I'm pretty sure Michelle's came out practically the week after her single!!!

I'm sure Steve will do very well with his debut, from a business perspective though, it is sales that matter, not chart positions!
