Nintendo 3DS XL
Hey,
I was thinking of upgrading my DS Lite to a 3DS XL so I could play Virtue's Last Reward (top of my list as 999 was so amazing), Prof Layton and the Miracle Mask, Paper Mario etc, - can I ask, is a 3DS able to play the US versions of DS games (I have NSMB, 999, Curious Village and some others)
Does the bigger screen on the XL make a real difference also?

Hello, from what I can see the 3DS is region locked. The big screen makes all the difference in my experience anyway.

The 3DS is region locked for 3DS games, but I thought you could play US versions of DS games on it

Yep. Almost half of my DS games are US versions and they play fine.

It certainly does. The screen should have been this size from day one IMO.

Hey,
I have another question
Does the 3DS XL come with an adapter/power supply like the DS did? I think I heard you had to buy one which sounds stupid imo, everything should come in the box

Just seen this link - theres an adapter here and it says "Also compatible with Nintendo DSi", I dont have a DSi as such, BUT will my DS Lite adapter/plug work with the 3DS XL? The 3DS one displayed there looks almost identical to my old DS Lite plug.

Nope, the DS Lite adapter is slightly different to the DSi/3DS' adapters.

I think so. But then my eyesight isn't great and I prefer the bigger screens. My niece doesn't bother about the screen size.

3DS XL larger screen is much better, the stylus is easy to reach (unlike the 3DS), the battery life is better (3.5 hours with everything on, for me its about 5 hours with the 3D off) in the case of sleep mode, it can last for days)

Also, the curved edges make it easier on the hands.

Space Harrier is coming to the 3DS. That is going to be a thing of beauty.

Hey,
I didnt want to open a new thread for this, but I was wondering where is the cheapest online store for a 3DS XL, they seem to be about £150-60, I was hoping for one for Xmas, with Virtues Last Reward
Not sure about which colour to go for.

Anyone know some good earbuds/earphones to buy? The sound on 3DS is supposed to be pretty low so think some would come in handy.

I keep my sound just under halfway up and that's loud enough so i dunno where you heard that

Hey,
Going to order one of these soon (I hope) but cant decide which colour to get Was torn between the blue+black and silver+black ones, they both look good IMO. I'm leaning towards blue/black, maybe I want a change from my white DS Lite.
Not sure though

Don't forget to register it by 15th January so that you can get a code to download a free game. The list of games includes Mario and Prof Layton.
