But as soon as they get to live shows, they let the ridiculous production crew get at them, they get all Friedman'd up, and then what were great singers get ruined.

The production of the live shows is shocking, the hosts are beyond appalling, the judges have no chemistry at all and the audience just screams incessantly all the time no matter what is happening.

And the results show last week was just about the most amateurish bit of TV I have seen. They ruin the tension of announcing the results by going to a break half way through, then they get the judges pretty much just say a name of the person they want to send home with no explanation or prevaricating (say what you like about Louis but watching his contorted face as he's trying to come up with an answer is half the fun!).

And then, the cardinal sin was the announcing of the order of the votes. There was zero tension, both the contestants and the audience had no idea how to react, they had CeCe on stage for it despite knowing she was last anyway, for the first few they had the camera on the person who was named several seconds before the name was read out. It was anti climactic and painful to watch.

Who would have thought we would be sorry to see the back of Steve Jones, but these two muppets are just embarrassing, and their inability to squeeze any tension at all out of what should be inherently exciting events is cringe worthy. I can't see a way back, but I would be amazed if they did the same next week and announced the voting order, as it just doesn't make exciting TV.

There, rant over!”

They only showed Beatrice first, the rest of the contestants weren't shown until their name was announced! Also they had to pre-record and edit a lot as The X Factor was moved around a delayed so much due to the baseball on FOX.

The worst thing is I can't hear the acts at all half the time, they really need to shut the audience up a bit and turn the music DOWN!

Also with the progress CeCe had to becoming likable and having a good shot in the competition, Demi has demolished that.

Ugh at America obviously voting Tate as their front runner. You sing country, even badly like he does and the housefraus lap it up.

A bit? They need to shut the audience out completely.

I don't know whose idea it has been to let the stupid audience scream througout the performances and during judges comments was?

It was getting on my nerves last year also, but this year I wanna cut my own arm out just to have something to throw at the TV screen

Demi was a fantastic judge - I was pleasantly surprised at her feedback to contestants in the audition rounds, her attentiveness to her own acts at judges houses (such as picking out CeCe's over-confidence as something that will fall back on her), however she's not translated well into mentor at all. I'm genuinely shocked at how someone can go from being such an attentive, thoughtful judge to being a cruddy mentor that keeps making the wrong song choices. How she has managed to ruin all three of her acts this early in the competition is beyond me... Paige's styling is marginally correct, but that's it, and CeCe isn't meant to be like Gwen Stefani.

Britney is...eh, to me there's no soul behind her eyes. I know that sounds weird but she looks neither excited nor bored, she gives very little feedback and when she does it often doesn't even make sense. I think Simon picked the wrong "superstar" to give the job to, and it's pretty obvious he had other options.

Simon is Simon, always enjoyable to watch and he knows what makes a good contestant.

L.A is quite likeable and does know what he's talking about...but only really for the business side of things. I reckon he'd be able to sell his acts to the public and he would know how to market them, but I'm not so sure he knows what he's doing when it comes to nurturing talent, picking their songs to sing, styling them etc.

Also! Has anyone else noticed a decrease in vocal talent for certain contestants? Paige and CeCe both worked I Will Always Love You, were completely on pitch and didn't struggle with any of the belts, but in the live shows they're just parodies of themselves. CeCe sounds particularly bad... It leads me to think they're still at using auto-tune for auditions like they do here.

I must be in the minority for thinking that the US version is better than the UK's then. I agree about the screaming audience members being annoying though. Oh and it's funny to keep track of how often Britney says "amazing" during her critiques!
