Unfortunately I won't be able to see the show, but I assume this is the song where the dancers make out they're puppets.

You really have to see this in context. It was a Nazi propoganda song.
The song starts off innocently and then gets more aggressive as he controls the 'puppets'. At the end one of the dancers takes off Will's hat and puts a Hitler moustache on him. It's really chilling.

Whilst I know the story of Cabaret and the background it's told against, I haven't seen it, nor will I be able to, so I've only got the idea in my head of how this scene is played. For instance I didn't realise about the moustache.

As well as the moustache, his hair is brushed down a la Hitler! Also the controls he uses to make the "puppets" work are actually swastikas and when he shouts "To me" he hold them up to show what they are!
