JJ from Union J... has he ever actually sung a line (word, even) by himself yet?

Just curious if i've missed anything, as to date I can't for the life of me work out what he actually does, he is so overshadowed by the other guys it's not even funny. Watching him on Xtra Factor try and get a word in while the others are talking, and him then getting cut off after a word is pretty painful to watch. However, fair do's to him for riding the fame train, God knows I would too in his position.

He can sing but I don't think he's had a solo yet. They should let him. I guess every boy band has the token quiet guy though.

Is he "cute?".........

If so, it won't matter, they'll scream anyway.....

Louis and Niall never seemed to sing when one direction were on and there were a few members of Take That and Westlife who never seemed to sing solos. I guess it's just the way of boybands. Last year when Little Mix all sang solos in songs Gary criticised them.

I know and you're right, but even so I think they could just give him a token few words to sing in the odd song just so that it makes him look a little more like he is part of what is going on.

From an 18 year old's perspective, he is very good looking, possibly even the best after George. But i do agree that he needs to sing on his own because at the moment i think he seems out of place and not even part of the group.

He had a part with Jaymi where you could hear his voice last week and its really good. I don't know why he doesn't get more solos.

There's always one that tends to be in the background with these sort of bands. It's a shame because he seems like a really nice guy from what I've seen of him.

Last week in Love Story you could hear his voice.

What makes a band different from a 4 individuals is the fact they can harmonize. This requores talent and he may not be a lead vocalist but he plays an integral part to them. I hate it when people can't see past the bloke standing at the front

This ... you could hear him the best last week and he has a very sweet voice. For all some like to slate boybands, I guess he wouldn't have been recruited to Triple J if he wasn't able to sing.

Like others have said, he isn't the first boyband member never to be given a solo - doesn't mean he can't sing, and I'm sure he plays an integral part to their overall sound.

And once again JJ is the only one not to even get a single line... is his voice really THAT crap?

Hah... there was just a section where they were discussing the song choice and JJ was the only one that wasn't present in the scene... it was just George and the two decent singers. I think it's obvious that JJ is just a bit part, and that his voice must be pretty weak... must be quite frustrating for him!

I was hoping he was going to have a solo part tonight...I think a lot of people have been waiting for it!

I don't think so. I think he did sing on his own when they were still Triple J (obviously I can't be bothered to search their audition/bootcamp videos now ) but George is definitely the worst singer in the group. Yes we've never heard JJ sung on his own on the live shows but from the little bits we've seen when he's harmonising with another member you can tell he has a pretty good voice and not a weak one at all.

Then why do the producers and Louis treat him like the ginger stepchild of the group?

By the way if you please can find that clip of him doing the little solo I'd actually really appreciate it!

Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts never sang in the Rolling Stones.

But they did play instruments

I really don't know, it's not like he's ugly or anything so they want him to be a backing singer only. He also doesn't talk much (if not at all) in interviews as well. Maybe he's the typical shy member of the group?

I just searched their early performances and realised that JJ didn't have any solos in them either. He's receiving worse treatment than Louis in 1D lol.

I wouldn't say he's shy he looks pretty confident when whenever he speaks on TV... he just doesn't get chance to talk either before he gets cut off, or the mic just passes him by in favour of one of the three more popular guys!
