Is it possible to use a Canon printer with an iPad?

You can use any wireless printer that operates via wifi. You just choose the printer as your wifi network and away you go.
Do you mean a printer specifically designed to interact with the Apple ecosystem? |

Only a (very!) few printers can do AirPrint - which is what iPads need! Other than that one has to use a printing App on the iPad or software on the PC I believe. |

Although apple say airprint compatible, they really mean a wireless capable printer. Best prog to connect to non wifi printers that I use is Printer Pro. Apple have a list of printers on their site here |

My wife has a bog standard Canon wireless printer (no compatability to Airplay at all). It generates a wifi network so in settings on your phone/pad we simply chose the printer rather than our normal wifi network. And away you go.
![]() Where do you find the printer network in settings? Thanks

I think thedrewser is saying that their wifi printer has a facility whereby it broadcasts its own wifi network, rather than just connecting to a network. That way, the iPad can connect to it like it would to any wifi network.
Otherwise, you will need an AirPrint compatible printer (I didn't think they were as rare as was being suggested on here) or a third party app. |

Basically install the windows program as per instructions here; http://support.readdle.com/ppd/ Then you are up and running. If printer pro is not free anymore as an app, there is a printer pro lite app that is free, to test it. |

Printer pro is very easy to use and setup, install the app, and it takes you through what you need to do next.
