Woop My prediction was right about Kimberely and Lisa.

So glad that my two favourites are doing my favourite dance.

Bring on the Sambaaaaaa!

Denise & James' Charleston is to "Walk Like An Egyptian" - this is an 80's themed Charleston? Assuming we're still going for the decades theme then it would seem to work out like this:

20s - ?
30s - Foxtrot based American Smooth (Michael)
40s - Quickstep (Dani)
50s - Jive (Nicky)
60s - Quickstep based American Smooth (Louis)
70s - Samba (Lisa)
80s - Charleston (Denise)
90s - Samba (Kimberley)
00s - ?

Still don't know about Richard or Victoria.

they'll give victoria a ballroom i'd say. maybe the waltz?

Of the two undeclared dances - people have been saying Richard has a salsa but I've not seen anywhere confirming it. I'd have thought they'd have two jives, one to cover the 50s and one to cover the 80s, but the Walk Like An Egyptian charleston seems to scupper that...

If Victoria is doing ballroom I think she'd have to do American Smooth as well as it's the only one she's got left that could transfer well to Wembley. I don't see either of the waltzes going off well.

Surely a Charleston's got to be 20s - whatever the music! Hasn't been danced since except on SCD!!

So would that mean Victoria's got the charleston because Richard's already done it?

TBH I've no idea - but historically how can you not have a 20's Charleston. Shakes head in despair!

Ah, Richard definitely does have salsa - he tweeted it earlier this evening.

I would have Richard in the 90s with the Salsa, and Kimberley in the 00s. Leaving Victoria in the 20s, with a Charleston.

I'm starting to doubt there will be a theme, or if there is it won't be taken this literally, surely they would have mentioned it on ITT by now if there was.

I'd love to see a Victoria Charleston

The BBC are referring to the show as "Dance Through the Decades".

I think Richard's Twitter has confirmed Salsa.

I think Victoria might get Viennese Waltz.

Have you not met the Strictly production team?

A '70s Charleston. A great salsa from the '30s. And I'm especially looking forward to a disco-samba to celebrate the 1940s - those crazy war years!

What a dreadful Charleston song choice for Denise to dance to. Utterly awful.

The idea, not the song. I like the song it just is so not a song you could Charleston to.

The Viennese waltz was popular up until the outbreak of WW1 - so maybe that would fit into the turn of the 20th century?

I kinda hope she gets the Viennese Waltz because Brendan always creates amazing Viennese Waltzes, but then Victoria won't be able to handle the spins so i'm hoping for a simple Waltz.

Perhaps it's only the music that is through the decades?

Waltz is the oldest of the dances in the 20s

Quickstep is a 1920's dance and was derived from Foxtrot and Charleston and was standardized in 1927, foxtrot is from WW1 but height of its popularity was 30's and beginnings of Jive from 2nd world war years though the version we know today like cha cha is from the fifties

with choices above just cannot see there being a theme - what's the point of having a theme if you don't do it correctly - but Charleston to 80's music seems all wrong

That would be the 1820s (in fact even earlier)

Regarding music for Charleston, Pencil Full Of Lead is a good song for a Charleston. Walk Like An Egyptian just doesn't have the correct feel - sure you can Charleston to it but I wouldn't want to.

You can dance Charleston to just about any up tempo pop music - you would look an idiot a lot of the time though.

They'll probably use a version of Walk Like An Egyptian like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtzQSc4h0ec

Sounds more 40's though, not 80's, or 20's...
I'm confused now

Even more confusing is that version seems to have a latin rhythm - more like a samba. Samba 1 a 2 1 a 2 Charleston 1 2 1 2
