I would be willing to bet a lot of money, D3 had more votes the UnionJ. That was the most obvious example of being screwed over I have seen in a while on the show. In the past when a judge didn't vote- they have been forced to say I'll let the public decide. And of all night to let the public decide- you would think the so called battle of the boyband would be the most deserving. I don't remeber a judge ever being canceled out from the start like tonight. Also, it seems Nicole took a direct cure from someone. She clearly showed last night that she favored D3, as was shown in the recap. She also essentially said that even D3 worse harmony was better than UnionJ (along with this is a singing competition when referencing them in the intro recap)... then out of no where says UnionJ are more ready? of all the reasons that is not one. Hopefully they will get a record deal and do it own their on like some of the other recent uk artist who are now in the US charts have done. Because with the right guidance they are certainly capable of being great recording artist.

There is a sense that they were shafted

It was obvious they sacrificed the less commercial group when they knew about the sing off results, but lets face it, Union J slayed them in that sing off. If they had put it to deadlock and lost Union J over them, the outroar from the Union J fans would have been one hell of a meltdown!

I think there is a definite overestimation of the number of UnionJ fans along with an underestimation of District3 fans, Them singing a song none of their young fans could relate to probably didn't help their voting totals, but I stil have no doubt they recieved more votes than Union J.

When the votes come out, I will certainly say I'm wrong if it is not the case- but if it turns out D3 clearly got more votes this week, I think that is proof positive of how bad they got screwed. I would also be willing to bet when the votes come out that they have got more votes the past several weeks running.

It wouldn't be the first time that it has happened. Look at Paije and Mary being "voted off" over Cher despite doing much better in the sing offs and having higher percentages of the votes because of how they thought Cher would do better commerically (and the fact she was Cheryls pet project).

I think D3 got shafted big time. Mentioned it on another thread so won't repeat myself. Thing is, I don't even like boybands and wouldn't have wanted either to get to the final, but to me there was some blatant shafting of D3 (expected to do 'risky' songs when UJ weren't, being told to get back to basics but when they were doing basics, told to oomph it up etc) and kind of have to feel sorry for the threesome who are actually better than UJ but didn't fit the bill of One Direction clones so they got the sticky end of the lollipop!

Well at least we were told about the sing off tonight - unlike when Mary went out over Cher where we were led to believe it was 100% down to the public vote.

In the end it doesn't matter who wins the public vote - its who Cowell wants to invest in that will succeed. Hence Cher and One Direction - who Mary Byrne beat most weeks in the public vote - are now millionaires and she is still living in her council flat in Dublin.

Cowell wanted a boy band from that series - and he doesn't want a Union J or District 3 to mess One Directions status as No 1 boyband. Union J will go soon!

I agree with this too. District 3 were shafted by the producers who seem desperate for Union J to become the next One Direction. I also thought it very telling that they went to Louis first, they obviously didn't want it going to Deadlock....

Louis should have been allowed to vote last. that way, it ud build up the tension about which of his own acts he was going to execute - and also, he could have had the chance to push it to public vote.

I had to laugh at Gary saying how he was almost championing their vocals through the competition but tonight was one of their worst in the competition

He's been slating them most weeks.. especially last night wtf?

also they had no time between finding out they were in the bottom 2 and having to sing. Usually there is an ad break which allows the singers to relax, they had to sing straight away, no wonder they were shakey

We all knew as soon as they asked Louis first what the outcome would be and that it was clear District 3 had more votes.

Don't friggin open the voting to the public if you just wanna pick who you 'think' should stay you silly show.

Their song choice was awful in the sing off. It did them no justice at all. Union J got a better song and Louis seemed to purposefully pit the two bands against each other.
District 3 were always good at harmonising together and Union J suited bouncing around the stage like an average boy band looking pretty.
Somehow this week Louis decided to make Union J copy District 3's style. It worked because Union J has got one very good stand out singer among them and District 3, who can all sing well, have gone out.
Gary Barlow never liked District 3. I hope now those three lads can go off and do their own music in their own way and not give up and hopefully change their name.

Yeah the sing-off is becoming extremely tiresome now. That being said I liked the way it was handled on USXF with each judge literally just saying 'the act I'm sending home is.....' - obviously it's still fixed, but at least we didn't have to listen to the bs excuses for sending unfavoured acts home. Not sure if it's something they're going to do every week (might've just been to make time for the voting results reveal at the end) but I liked it.

Wasn't the piano extremely loud for D3? I'm sure that's what put them off so badly, they couldn't hear themselves and each other. Kind of vital for harmonies to work.

If they were stuffed, that was one of the 'clever' tricks they did to stuff them

Do you mean in the original song, on Saturday night, the Clapton number?

If the piano was "too loud," then part of that was down to the person "playing," it..that would mean the member of District 3 who we're lead to believe was responsible for the sounds..
However, I'm not all that convinced that he actually was.
The camera panned down to his hands at a point where the piano was doing something a little bit more complicated than plonking down chords.

I've always "championed," District 3, for their fairly sound harmony work...though, to be honest, I'm not all that bothered with boybands, they usually, IMO look like and sound like they've come off a production line headed straight for the teen-market..
They've been much more consistent in that area than Union J..and the performance of Union J at the beginning of "Fix You," was another example of how shaky they were.

But, in the sing-off last night, I thought Union J, really upped their game and provided some really decent harmonies and much more urgency and emotion from the lead singer than District 3, though both bands IMO were far better in the sing offs than they ever are in the live shows on Saturday.

Which kind of begs the question...why on earth are we not hearing that standard of performance on Saturday nights, from either group?

The answer, IMO, is obvious...Louis Walsh..and his (generally) naff song choices.
Not all songs are suited to "forced," harmonies, for the sake of it..not something I'd expect Walsh to understand.

In the sing-off, they're singing a song that they know, feel passionate about and have obviously rehearsed more..and have worked out whether or not they can find a decent vocal blend..

Perhaps, the best thing for Union J, should they survive another week, would be to flatly refuse to have anything to do with anything Mr Walsh comes up with in the area of song choices.

He'll have them singing "Agadoo," before too long.

Rich.

I much preferred District 3 to Union J. Unfortunately for them, they just didn't fit the boyband formula and Union J do. District 3's harmonies have always been better, but Louis Walsh ruined them and last week in particular, they were unrecognisable. Union J will make more money from the preteens and that's just a sad fact.

They wanted D3 out so the girls would focus on UJ this was clear from about week 3,d3 had no chance. But I think they are better out off it,they can do their own thing now without being controlled by xfactor and they have a really good manager who knows the music industry so they will be fine.the Xfactor has got their name out there and will get them plenty of gigs which is all they needed.UJ will be forgotten soon enough not because they are not good but because they are to like One Direction.

I felt like D3 knew it was over before they started singing, and that was why they appeared so deflated and defeated. They knew they wouldn't be saved over Union J.

They seem like nice guys too and they had a slightly different vibe to them which gave them something of an edge over the regular flavor boybands, so it is a shame they had to exit in this crappy kind of way. I think they needed guidance to take them in a positive direction, and they didn't seem to be getting it. Their mannerisms and facial expressions when performing were soooo dated looking for example. Oh well, at least they have the tour.

Why do they think Union J are going to do well? They are at the bottom of the votes every week.

I think it has more to do with the fact that One Direction have had international success, and no matter what the GB public think of Union J, the rest of the world will take a great interest in the new version/rival to One Direction = $$$ for Cowell.

The audience and fans of the X Factor are puppets.

More importantly, they weren't given a chance by the voting public or they wouldn't have been in the bottom two along with the other boybland. Enough is enough. Down with this sort of thing etc etc.

they have a really good manager who managed The Wanted so she will stirr them right. They just need to get out there doing gigs etc which they willl get now after the show and they will be on the tour, think of the experince they will get doing that.I have no doubt they will do well.
