Lenovo laptop issue
Hi, I purchased this recently http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...ProductReviews but today it completely locked up and couldn't even be booted up in safe mode and because it was purchased at the beginning of September Argos has sent it away for repair. I'm not great with the technical side of computers and wondered if it was terminal?

Hard to say without any error messages. Could be the hard drive, the system board or a corrupt boot sector. Hope they don't keep you waiting.

Impossible to tell without any info. It might just have been Windows screwing up and needing a simple factory restore. Did you have your data backed up, as there's a good chance the laptop will come back wiped?

Without any further details cannot give a diagnosis but will be hardware locking up possibly processor but that is speculation.
More than likely it is repairable if not then a new computer will be issued if still under warranty. |

It booted up but completely froze and had to turned off by removing battery or holding down power button, tried booting in safe mode but this also froze loading files up.

As i said only speculation i would now wait for the Laptop to be repaired and they should give a reason or advisory what has been done.

Thought I'd update, after waiting four weeks with no sign of it being repaired Argos replaced it for the same model, but this lasted three weeks before dieing again. Took it back and changed it this time for a different model altogether, and considering my original laptop is over 2.5 years old and still going strong I know its not my fault.

what do you mean by 'dieing again'?
1st one reads to me like a software conflict and/or firewall misbehaving which has happened to me before and after hours of frustration (most of time waiting) last thing I tried, resetting windows firewall speeded up boot time from 45 mins to normal speed .... OK I should have waited for a stable version of avast to get released ... glitch in that was probably the gremlin |

According a friend I know that repairs PC's he thinks it was either the hard drive or Ram on both of them, and if you look at the reviews for the laptop on Argos someone else has had to return 2 of them 1 straight from the box.

I bought my Thinkpad x121e direct from Lenovo and am well chuffed with it. I know that's anecdotal, but I'm merely trying to say to OP that they've been unlucky with Lenovo and no tt give up on the brand. |
