I'm starting this new thread, as the existing one doesn't have any clear rules and most importantly, lacks the No Spoilers tag.
I understand the OP in the other thread has been asked to change it, but there hasn't been any response.

I suggest the following rules
1) No Spoilers. This means anything relating to future content of episodes should not be posted.
2) Carrying on the usual spirit of goodwill in these Scandinavian threads, posters are requested to take care when referring to the previous series, so as not to give too much away to anyone who has yet to benefit from these quality dramas.
Obviously, this can't apply if the characters themselves refer back to the previous events.
3) No spoilers

Cautionary note.
TV guides, radio times, radio times emails can give too much away, so those who want to develop their own theories, refrain from reading these items.

After wandering in the wilderness for what seems like years I've found a new home.

Don't forget the BBC HD simulcast on Saturday. It's repeated on Monday and Tuesday on BBC4 in case of busy recording schedules. And iPlayer of course.

Been invited to a party on Saturday. Can feel a headache and sore throat coming on.

and that's the way I like it. Steering clear of plot descriptions and reviews until I've seen it, so I can make up my own mind. I shall enjoy discussing it with the fine folks on here, though.

I saw the trailer last night and am still none the wiser, although can confirm that Lund says "NEJ!" at some point during the series! (hope that isn't a spoiler?!)

Looking for some expert opinions please.....I missed the first two seasons of The Killing. Do I need to have seen them first before I watch season 3? Will I be totally lost if I only start watching on Saturday?

I didn't see the first series, but saw the second. You do not need to have seen previous series to enjoy this, each series is quite different.

The only thing is that some posters refer to previous characters, I don't have a problem with that I should say. Some very entertaing posters on here and very knowlegeable, and if you don't understand any of the plot , just ask on here. I certainly have !

The Killing is produced by Danmarks Radio, Denmark's national broadcaster which is funded by a licence fee which is one in the eye for the anti-licence fee types on DS

You shouldn't be lost, as the are separate although involve mostly the same characters.
What you may miss out on is if the characters act in a way that has been influenced by previous events that have shaped them. But ask away if you don't understand anything.
Scandi threads have always been very polite and friendly ones, with lots of patient posters.

As has been said before us Euro-Crime posters are a friendly bunch and the only thing that really upset us was during first season when some eejit came here and as good as gave away whodunnit.

Another thing you'll find here is watching the shows and reading this thread you will often find out a lot of information about the political and legal systems of the countries involved.

As David & tealady have already said each series can be watched without prior knowledge of the others, though you'll miss out on some character progression and maybe other historical information - but we're a nice bunch on these Eurothreads so any questions, just ask.
