Google Music now available in the UK
OK, so no more messing around with proxies to use it
![]() http://music.google.com Basically, its like itunes match. Scans the music on your computer and adds any matches to an online account, plus you can upload anything that doesn't match automatically. Takes up to 20,000 songs which you can then play in any browser, on any computer, wherever and whenever you like. (And of course, on your Android devices; not sure about iOS) The best bit? Completely 100% free!! Been using it for a while now, very handy. Of course, there's also a music store attached, all pretty standard stuff. I'm expecting some sort of freebie sale to kick in this week as well; the US version often has free tracks on special occasions. https://play.google.com/about/features/index.html#music explains it better than I do. |

Is there anything special you need to do for it to match? I've ripped a legit CD to mp3 format to test the matching against an album on the google play store; it just wants to upload the files instead.

Not a huge issue until I try to buy something... |

Been pretending I'm in the US for a while with this now. Any idea how to change it to realise I'm in the UK?

I ran the new music manager and it only matched about 1000 of my tracks (not really surprising since i have a lot of stuff not licensed over here). The rest seem to be slowly uploading. Not sure about the Windows version of Music Manager, but the Mac version doesn't show any indication of what's being uploaded and what's being matched. |

You need to have a credit card / debit card to use
![]() and the only way to get out is to close the tab / window / edit url. |

So, no thanks I don't buy MP3s very often anyway, in fact i may have got 2-3 from Amazon and then Amazon tried to keep them on their cloud, no way, off they came. I prefer to buy CDs, cheaper and better quality. |

Only if you're going to buy music from them - I've uploaded over 5,000 songs without ever entering any card details.

Ah I think it might be because I've already had Google Wallet set up to buy stuff from the Android Market.

Well i get: http://www.postimg.com/image/92000/googleplay-91224.jpg Followed by: http://www.postimg.com/image/92000/g...lay2-91225.jpg It is to get people to use Google wallet, it is nothing to do with where you live as they can tell that mainly via the IP number. Maybe not enough people is using Google Wallet, just like Google+ so they got to get more people registered. |
