Interesting tweet from XFactorUSA
@TheXFactorUSA
Do you like when contestants have huge production numbers or simple performances? #xfactor Hmm... Ratings are tanking anyways so not sure if any changes will make a significant impact (upwards). |

I think that they have realized too late that, this was the only thing they should have changed everything else would have fallen into place. They should have kept Paula, gotten rid of Nicole, Kept Cheryl and Steve was trying to do better.

If they go the 'simple' way, the huge stage they have is going to look even more useless than it already looks.

The last live show was a perfect mix of simple + visual performances. They should continue like that.

WRONG. The US critics were raving her the few episodes she was in last season. The general public seemed to love her too from watching the reactions.

The UK needs big spectacular showstoppers because most of the country looks to the show as something to brighten up their dull, boring, uneventful lives.
In America everyone is petrified of terrorism and gun crime whilst their daily lives are filled with tornadoes and hurricanes and people shouting on TV, so they much prefer the calm, tranquil, laid-back approach of American Idol. |

As an ex-Idol contestant suggested on Idoloonies, XF USA tries to make you into a star from the getgo with its over production, whilst AIdol with its early minimalist production allows you to grow as an artist as the weeks go by.

They need to sort out the awful camera work the viewers want to look at the contestants NOT the audience.

The US version was an utter train wreck the first week with the worst excesses of Brian Friedman ruining most of the performances with hysterical over-production and pantomime outfits. I can remember back to the 1970s when these huge dance numbers were a feature of the seaside special TV variety shows but even then they were considered lame and naff by most people, as well as just getting in the way.
Of course, here in the UK, Brian F has left our shores and our show is suddenly much improved. Only Rylan had a big production number last week and with him it works, he can dance and he's camp and he can't sing very well and this is his thing, so it was fine. It did not work so well with Chris but it wasn't horrendous. With all the others, just standing there and singing a stripped back song was a massive improvement for all. |

Ie- Nicole seems a much better fit on UKXF compared to USXF (where she was aweful & non very well liked). But regarding the OP- the song are so overproduced on USXF you almost can't hear the acts. But still the biggest problem for me is the acts they have chosen last year and this year... leaving out key demographics that do well of these shows & generally picking contestants that are not that interesting (often also because they are far to young for viewers to connect to or be interested in). |
