Foo Fighters/Muse/Kasabian night. That would be awesome.

All of the above bands are current, produce fantastic music, all are internationally renowned, and we wouldn't have to put up with crazy tacky dancers and/or backing singers.

Rock music is where the heart lies. And by being specific on the bands we won't have to witness Tulisa's interpretation of Rock music.

Could be some fantastic songs being sung (or potentially ruined!!) such as Everlong, Best of You, Time is Running Out, Feeling Good, Fire, Club Foot, Underdog to name just a few.

Would be interesting to see someone like James Arthur for instance do acoustic Everlong or Feeling Good, or even La Fee Verte by Kasabian.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't be here for that.

I doubt those bands would let XF use their music....The rock industry tends to oppose the whole talent show culture.

That's why we will never see those type of bands perform on the show.

Not so sure, in the US often have some decent rock songs being performed.
Even in UK last year I seemed to remember Janet sing Sweet Child o mine.

If anything Elton John has always been critical, yet one of his songs was on last Saturday's show...

Also Josh in last years US X factor performed Pretender by the Foos. So I don't think FF have any issue.

that'd be the most awful thing.

Been waiting for a Muse song to be performed for years to no avail. Maybe they just haven't bought rights to it or Muse don't give permission for it ( although their stuff has been used as background VT music on the show alright ) .

I suppose at least their songs haven't been murdered though - unlike my other all-time fave band Queen.

Muse has been used on American Idol before. I remember someone singing 'Uprising'.

Either way, I'd love a Muse/FF night.

You know what, OP? You're completely right! I would love to see Chris belting out All My Life by Foo Fighters, or Rylan giving his own credible spin to Uprising.

Except wait, no, I wouldn't. Because that would be totally, totally ridiculous.

On a Saturday night, I mainly want to see crazy Brazilian men playing the bongos whilst murdering Love Shack, or fifty navy uniform-clad men marching to Go West. Leave the serious music discussion to the the people wittering on about authenticity and credibility, please.

I think even if that were to happen, most fans of those bands either wouldn't know about it because they don't watch the show, or would be unhappy about how the songs were interpreted, and I don't know if the teenage girl vote would recover from one of the boybands attempting something by those bands. You say there wouldn't be any "crazy tacky dancers" but you know there would be, they'd just be wearing leather and sporting blown-out hair, as is the X Factor interpretation of rock music. The traditional rock-themed weeks are always a shambles because the genuine fans of that genre either don't like the versions the contestants do, or the theme is stretched to its limit by a judge sticking a few riffs in a song that could in no way be construed as rock music.

The odd song from these bands might not go amiss, but a show solely of their music would alienate a lot of viewers and with the ratings as they already are that's not a risk I'd expect they'd want to take.

I'd love a week like that but I don't think they'd go for it. Too serious and credible.

Muse could happen, they gave Sleepwalker to Adam Lambert so I doubt they're overly against the format of these shows.

I have a feeling that if they were to do a Foo Fighters/Kasabian/Muse night the OP would be here pdq to complain about it.

What could they call the theme? "Music that we'd like to do if only they'd give us permission to use their trax week?"

It would be an odd theme, 3 random bands lumped together.

I'd actually be happy the show played some decent rock tunes for once.
And would give a fair critique on the artists' performances

The thought of Rylan singing Kasabian's "Fire" actually makes me nauseous.

Unless the song ends with him being burned at the stake...
