Well, their storyline, the major one that was the theme throughout all problems and smaller plots they've had together (come to think of it, ever since they laid eyes on each other, they did not have seperate stories anymore), has been a big one, one that had not been done before, gotten a lot of attention, not everyone liked it, but everyone had an opinion on it. It broke quite a few taboos and they did a good job at that.

So yes, they should have Julia's theme, or something other than the normal duff-duff's anyway. If Dawn and Garry had it, these two should certainly have it. Even if their ending is not happy, it's hopefull, that counts too!

Probably because most Chryed fans don't bother talking to non-Chryed fans about EE these days. And with posters like the ones in here, can you blame us? They're not unpopular... just the people they're popular with aren't here!

Anyway, yes, I hope they do get Julia's Theme if they leave together. If there's any couple on EE that deserves a happy ending, it's Christian and Syed - if not for the fact that they are quite clearly more in love than 90% of the other characters on Albert Square at the moment, then just for all the absolute rubbish they've been put through recently! They were treated appallingly under BK's tenure but it doesn't change what they had in the first place or the fact that they've meant a lot to a lot of people over the years.

They've already had a Julia's theme.

Saying that, I think TPTB will bring them to the end by using JT to end the episode

If a Julia's ending fits, have it. If it doesn't, don't have it.

I'm not of the belief that some characters are more deserving of it than others. It's about whether the piece of music is suitable for the ending.

Although the Chryed story has been turned to rubbish lately, if Christian and Syed leave on a positive/emotional note, then I can't see how duff duffs will work.

If they leave seperatly however, they might.

Of course whatever ending they get tomorrow, whether that the JT or the duff duff, I just want to be able to enjoy them one last time.

A piece of music is the least of my concerns right now.

Absolutely this.

The Chryed story will always hold a special place in my heart for lots of reasons, and while I HATE what they've become, I also feel very lucky.

Viva Chryed - and see you on the other side Mads.

Really - its not. I hate doing "speaking on behalf of..." type posts, but here goes - if you're not a Chryed fan, I really really don't believe you can have any hope for them as a couple. If they leave together (you may consider positive?) they will have fallen out again within weeks/days ... if they leave apart, ironically that would probably be more hopeful for them!!

which is quite true, and why i think they probably will get JT. Again, as non-fan you have to admit, the number of Chryed fans with passion is far, far in excess of passionate non-fans. Most of 'us' (I guess) are probably just indifferent and bored by them, and couldnt care less.

ETA So give the fans their JT ending, it doesn't matter if you don't like them

I'm no fan and even if they had a positive ending its pointless.. How many times do they make up and split up? Silly

I think the characters had a moderate popularity once, during the time of the original storyline when they were being heavily used, but they were never main characters like the Brannings or the Mitchells, it was the issue EE were pushing. They have never achieved anything near universal popularity. Once the initial story was out of the way the audience didn't care anymore and BK saw to it that he drastically reduced the level of popularity they did have. But I don't think it was ever on the same scale of the other major couples/characters over the years the audience (online anyway, but I can't imagine anyone in r/l really cares cos the majority of the non-online audience don't overthink soaps) haven't exactly been up in arms over their lack of appearances this year and that was before BK destroyed them.

So we give them it because they were involved in a good storyline 2 years ago? Even though they have been ruined as a couple now. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I don't see how anything can be resolved between them in a believable way, all in the space of one episode, not least because Syed strikes me as the type of person who could benefit from some therapy as he is clearly still unhappy with many things about his life, including Christian. Although I suspect on Thursday it'll suddenly be 'we need to be together' despite the huge rows they keep having and will continue to have.

I notice the song Stand By Me in their last ep I bet they will get that instead of Julia's Theme anyway. God the ultimate in cheese, I am PMSLing just thinking about it.

It's obvious EE had no ideas for these two beyond their initial storyline and that's always a problem when you focus too much on an issue or bringing a couple together that you somewhere along the line stop developing the characters as individuals.

All Chryed fans will agree with you that they've been poorly catered to over the last 2 years, Syed especially wasn't given any friendships away from Christian and his family, beyond the odd nice scene between Syed and Janine in the beginning - when Syed coud be a little flirty with women.

Like I say it is all about the issue.

The audience quickly lost interest once the drama/issue was out of the way cos they are dull as a couple. Once Amira left and they got it together properly it was like 'now what?' the only way they could've kept them interesting was to realistically explore the damaged relationship between Syed and his parents but EE didn't even do that cos they were only interested in the more soapy Christian/Syed/Amira dynamics. If you look over the last 3 years much of their material has involved Amira even their final storyline - they have never moved beyond that point.

The audience have never been up in arms over them not being used which shows it was the issue they were interested in but they were not considered 'big' characters in the league of certain others even back then. If they themselves were so "popular" then there would've been some fuss outside of 'Chryed' fans over their lack of use.

Issue-led characters rarely work out unfortunately as they are lost once the issue is over. And it's clear Syed was introduced specifically for Christian. It's a shame cos Syed could've been so much more.

Like I say it worked as a coming out story but I am not so sure they work as a proper couple. EE have spent the last two years showing us why they shouldn't be together.

Not the most likely combination (more of an accidental encounter or was it a 'special hug'? ) but then again, Heather and Darren were never sold to the audience as a romantic couple.

The reason why Chryed became dull is because BK gave them absolutely nothing to do. It's clear he didn't give a two hoots about them. He reduced them to glorified extras.

Through last year, the only solid month of screentime they had was in October and that was Amira's come back.

Then they went of screen again for a year and returned in August (three months ago) for a lame cheating plot which the audience doesn't give a fig about - and I don't blame them. Why should people care about Christian and Syed when we've seen nothing of them? It's like brining a new family into the show and shoehorning them into a story straight away. People are not going to care and will want them off - and I feel it's no different to Chryed because while they may have cared about them once, when they were onscreen, they're not going to now because they are practically nobodys (but not for fans of the couple).

I'll just be glad when it's all over on Thursday.

However I do think despite the crap that's been churned out and alot of the criticism that Christian and Syed get, I do think the story and the couple has been one of the shows successes. I know some people may disagree with that but I do think they have made an impact, and a good one. It's just a shame that the last two years EE have lost sight of that.

As a fan myself, I'll always be greatful for groundbreaking story that Santer and DTC gave us... and it's not just the story but the interactions among the cast were alot better back then too. Christian and Syed, now have not only been shoved into the background (until recently) but links to other characters have been non existant.

I nearly had a heart attack watching Syed talk to Tanya tonight.

Who says they're even going to get the final scene on the show? (although they most probably will)

I want them to leave seperately. Syed is such a wet blanket he deserves to be left crying at the side of the road.

I love EastEnders, I really do. Not much wrong atm and what LN said is promising.

I know she is giving them a happy ending but I don't know if they deserve it after everything, another yo yo couple. Syed will probably make the same mistakes again and when the theme is used for exits, it normally shows closure and I can only predict that there would be more heartache for Chryed- unless Sy finally owned up and made a positive effort, then i'd use the theme. And he probably will considering Chryed are supposedly EE's supercouple.

I can't wait for Syed to leave he has had the same tone of voice through out the whole of his career in Eastenders and I've never really seen him happy his always been a sad pathetic loser his had two weddings and in both of them his been a complete fool! Don't want Christian to leave though

Name me one other couple/pairing... or even character... who has maintained such a strong fanbase during BK's time on the show. When Christian and Syed first became popular there was also a huge thread running at the same speed for Ronnie and Jack. Pretty soon after BK arrived he started destroying Ronnie, the fan base slowly died and then Ronnie was sent to prison. BK also brought back Kat and with her reappearance came a surge of her (and Kalfie's) biggest fans. BK then started ruining Kat, and her fanbase on DS died long before this ridiculous 'affair with a shadow' storyline started and Kalfie's relationship was made meaningless for good. However, Christian and Syed's fanbase stayed very strong for ages, despite the fact that they were getting no screentime or storylines. It's only relatively recently that the thread has slowed down and people have finally got fed up and moved on. (Or just gone elsewhere to rant about it, like me. )

That alone is a testament to just how good the storyline was - and still could be, if it had been given half a chance by the last EE team - and how much they drew people in and really made them believe in them as a couple. Johnny Partridge and Marc Elliott were always spot on in their portrayal of the couple and when they were given good material they always pulled it out the bag. Just because something's no longer as good as it was doesn't mean people will give up when they still see potential. The storyline's also done a fantastic job of normalising gay relationships, and I doubt many viewers would blink twice at a kiss or an innuendo between Christian and Syed now whereas before them, a gay kiss was a big thing and probably would've attracted a load of complaints.

And anyway, it's not really their popularity that would make them deserve Julia's Theme but the nature of their exit. If they leave together (which I hope they will) and the episode draws their storyline to a close with a positive ending, the duff duffs wouldn't be appropriate. I also don't think everything can be resolved in one episode and I think this exit storyline has not only been awful but extremely rushed (which is funny considering they were barely on screen for 6 months before it so there was plenty of time ), but enough of their love and chemistry remains for me to believe they could fix it off screen if they both tried hard enough. And if the ball starts rolling in Thursday's episode.

Syed loves Christian, he didn't love Amira - not in the way he needed to - so there's a huge difference there.

As for never seeing Syed happy, we've never seen him at all in between Chryed's main storylines and that's been a huge issue. He was very happy during the first part of the year and before Michael left him thousands on debt.
