EastEnders - Patrick (spoiler)
Ann Mitchell is quoted to say that Patrick is going to have to be looked after and Cora steps in...any ideas on what this may mean.
Could it be that Patrick becomes ill??? |

So there you go: the first year is the hardest, coming to terms with the fact you are going to lose your mind and die a hard death. What happens after that is entirely up to the sufferer. |

I think its going to be like Cora 'second chance' to help her partner. Tanya looked after her dad when he was ill, while Cora got drunk but this time she'll look after Patrick.

![]() But also, a second chance with Ava's dad- he was also black and she lost him so Patrick's sort of a reminder of him as well |

Dementia doesn't necessarily lead to death straight away. For Alzheimer's, life expectancy is 7 years, with the first few years showing few signs. Look at Terry Pratchett: since he's been diagnosed he's become a Knight of the Realm, published four new Discworld books and three non-Discworld books, had roles in two Discworld TV specials, lectured twice a year every year in Trinity College Dublin (two days ago was his most recent one, and one of the lectures was a full workshop which was bloody brilliant), and has at least two more Discworld books coming out in the next two years.
So there you go: the first year is the hardest, coming to terms with the fact you are going to lose your mind and die a hard death. What happens after that is entirely up to the sufferer. |

los.kav, please accept my apology....I came across as really snarky towards you. I didn’t mean to.
If the life expectancy for Alzheimer’s is more like ten years, then it just shows that if a character in a soap is diagnosed with it, they don't have to leave straight away. There's plenty more years ahead of any of the older cast, if they do a story like this.

Also, would Cora treat as a dear friend a man who had 'broke her heart' and left her pregnant and alone? |
