Has anyone bought the frozen lobster in Lidl? I'm wondering what you get and what it is like. The packaging doesn't give much away.

Not great tbh. But then I'm not a huge lobster fan. Langoustines are far superior IMO.

There wasn't a huge amount of meat in the LIDL lobster. What's the price like? Compared to buying a live Scottish or at least British one? The LIDL ones are from the states I think.

Tried one and thought it was pretty awful. There wasn't a huge amount of meat in it and what was there was pretty tough and watery.

The LIDL Lobster is brilliant value ! It tastes wonderful and if properly prepared is as good as any just smaller than a huge one that would cost £20. Even Asda can only manage an inferior one at £7.49.
I love Lobster have had them from many places at prices up to £30 and I can tell you this is great.

we didn't really like them, a tad too small and not much in the way of flavour.

What you need is a live one. Just chuck it in some boiling water and watch it squirm in agony. When it stops moving it's done.

Then enjoy with a nice bottle of wine..

Cooked well a lobster can be amazing - cooked badly or over cooked - bland.

We buy both lobster and crab locally as we live near the coast. I'd rather have a Crab any day than lobster to be honest.

I'm a big lobster fan, I have a lidl one in my freezer, thinking on preparing it on Saturday. Only thing that is worrying me now is the salt factor, I am scared it is going to have the dreaded canned in brine flavour. Yikes.

I love a live lobster drowned in a boiling pan then smothered in butter and nothing else, think I may be disappointed with the frozen one..I had to get one though I was curious, and on a tightish budget!

Lobsters are pretty well all Canadian sourced so whether you pay 5 quid or 20 quid .It's essentially the same old stuff .

My fishmonger had squat lobsters today. Little bug like things they are. Quite delicious and cheap as chips. I have no idea why I didn't buy any

British-caught probably be homarus gammarus (European or common lobster).

Lidl-bought one will be homarus americanus (American or rather Canadian lobster)-stockier and substantially smaller.

And ready-cooked vacuum-packed lobster with years spent in the deep freeze, is unlikely to compare well to a freshly caught and cooked beast.

In this case, you get what you pay for.

Indeed - my personal favourite -Homard Breton , unfortunately comes with an equally tasty price tag

Ahh the ol langostinos, lol they are crabby tastic tasting, a lot of the restaurants here fob folk off claiming it to be the genuine (rock) lobster deal disguising it with sauces and pasta muhahaha. Still I'd buy a ton if my fishmonger had em nom nom, and a pint of scallops too!... my salmon was a success so will try the lidl saltfest tomorrow...arrgh!

Congratulations!

Your 3 and a half year old post been quoted in several daily trash comics by lazy "journalists" googling and trawling online forums.
