EE: Week 50 *spoilers*
Monday 10 December
Alfie’s suspicions go into overdrive when he realises that Kat’s affair may not be over and, determined to get answers, Alfie starts questioning everything. Lola is upset when she realises that Phil is trying to make decisions about Lexi’s future without her - and, with Shirley’s words in her mind, she makes a decision. Bianca is struggling at the thought of Christmas approaching, realising she cannot afford the extra expense, but Alfie soon comes up with a plan to help her raise some money. Tuesday 11 December It’s Alfie’s big night as the Walford Christmas lights are to be turned on but with his fears of Kat’s affair, he finds it hard to cope. When his suspicions are piqued further, Alfie turns to a friend for advice but he is shocked by what he hears. Derek does his best to manipulate Tanya to get what he wants, knowing that she needs to keep him on side for Lauren’s sake. Meanwhile, Lauren refuses to give up on Joey and desperately hopes that when he was talking to Lucy he was actually talking about her. Thursday 13 December Max feels the pressure when Derek tells him that he is going to need to find some more money as their ‘friends’ have been in touch... Derek revels in letting Phil know about Sharon’s little secret, making Phil worry that it could jeopardise Lexi’s case. Alfie continues in his quest to find out everything he can about Kat’s affair, wondering if it is still going on. Friday 14 December Tanya is annoyed when Derek continues to make decisions about her wedding day and frustrated, she vents to Max leading Max to confront his brother. Abi visits Cora at work and she worries about what is on her gran’s mind. However, as Cora begins to open up, she is surprised to see a familiar face walk in. Convinced he knows the truth, Alfie wonders about what to do next but after sharing his worries he is left wondering if he is just torturing himself... |

Damn that pesky Christmas creeping up unexpectedly on people! It's not like you can plan for it when it's on a different date every year!Oh, wait... |

Bianca is always skint it's part of her character and it is a lot more realistic than the lifestyles the other characters appear to be leading, but I doubt there will be as much focus on it this time round since she is not leaving again as far as we know. There was more focus on her financial woes between December 2011 and April 2012 than there has ever been before and that was for a reason.
But yet again some go OTT over one line in the spoilers and think it is going to be a running theme going forward. The same people accuse EE of NOT being realistic. I suppose they would've preferred Bianca to come back a millionaire. |

I thought Newman told us the climax of Kat's storyline would be BEFORE Xmas? Yet in week 50 it is still ongoing, and there are only two more sets of week spoilers for this year - unless it'll be revealed the week just before the 25th - no doubt! It's rare though we get two weeks spoilers in a week - wonder why? Yet another 'poor' storyline for Bianca - why on earth is this woman coming back - completely, and utterly pointless. And Derek 'reveling' in anything against Philth Mitchell really is a sign he's about to die soon. And oh dear; we are in for a Lucy/Lauren/Joey love triangle it seems (going from week 49 spoilers). Ugh. I HOPE we don't have Lauren/Joey being siblings. Jesus. EE would have taken the biscuit well and truly there.

if you look here http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/ the Xmas 2012 publication dates are down the side. Week 51 will be out on the 21st.

But yet again some go OTT over one line in the spoilers and think it is going to be a running theme going forward. The same people accuse EE of NOT being realistic. I suppose they would've preferred Bianca to come back a millionaire. However, I, personally, would prefer that Bianca would come back and approach her finances realistically. I would prefer that the writers would address the matter of the myriad of benefits that Bianca would be entitled to, which would enable her to live; not ostentatiously; but relatively comfortably. I would prefer to see Bianca applying for the Housing Benefit; JSA; Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits that she would be entitled to; as well as receiving the due child support that she would undoubtedly be receiving from Ricky and Ray - both of whom are decent, responsible men who would not refuse financial aid for their children. That's what I'd prefer to see. That's the way I'd like to see Eastenders approach the issue of modern poverty and financial issues, rather than completely ignoring the fact that Bianca and her family would be entitled to a lot of financial help from the government; preferring instead to give us the silly, Dickensian parody-esque scenes of Bianca ladling out a single spoonful of beans onto a plate next to a lone fish finger for her kids' dinner and making a mockery out of the issue. I would prefer to see the writers either give Bianca the benefits she would be awarded in the real world and allow her to live in relative comfort and, as a result, be able to do something more fresh with the character; or at least give us a valid explanation as to why she chooses to totally ignore the help on offer. That's what I'd find realistic. Not a woman who is supposedly in eternal anguish regarding her financial worries but who; for some inexplicable reason; completely ignores the most obvious solution to help ease her troubles. I like it when EE tackles real social issues such as poverty; I much prefer their understated, political storylines to their overblown, sensationalist work. But it works better when it's done realistically; rather than completely ignoring something that plays a huge factor in the issue in the real world in order to befit a preferred result. Hopefully that's what we'll get this time. Sadly, I doubt it. |

Maybe that's something EE will show this time round, we can't assume, based on one tiny line in vague spoilers, that this is going to be a big thing like it was last time with Bianca making all the wrong decisions.

Given that she's just come out of prison; where they have inmate liaison programs which advise and aid prisoners in securing their financial matters before their release to ensure they are leaving to as stable a life as possible; and she's already struggling, I find it unlikely that they're planning to approach the issue with any more reality or accuracy than they previously did. But who knows? Here's to hope.

I bet you anything that if Bianca didn't have money problems, the same people complaining on this thread would be complaining about how they've magically gone away.
The show cannot win with you lot. |

Same old Bianca SL. How is she going to raise the money, is she going to be rude to someone demanding they give her money, get a shark loan, start selling makeup again, do something illegal or get a job (where she actually not rude to her boss or customers)

Biannca used to be quite a fun character in the 90s but since they made her have 4 kids she's become so predictable and unlikeable.

The majority of her storylines between 08 and 10 were not about being skint and doing stupid things to get out of it. We don't know how the storyline is going to play out this time round, all we have to go on is one vague line which from the way some are going on about it, you would think it was all that was happening this week. |
