HO - Crash questions

I loved the HO crash scenes and thought it was one of the best things Hollyoaks has ever done but I was wondering why Maddie didn't pull the handbrake when the brakes failed to work coz the van would have stopped and also when Bart and Esther were right next to the van why didn't they put the windows down?

I know this wouldn't have had the effect that we all seen but its basic common sense right?

That's what I thought.

She could have taken her foot off the accelerator at the very least.

Yes its common sense to put the windows down and explain the situation, its not as if they didnt have time, they were ages away from the building! They also could have turned into a field!

The first person to get out should have moved the gas cylinder and people who weren't injured from inside the building helping the students from the car!

but no because hollyoaks wanted to kill a few people off and make it look like a disaster they got rid of common sense.

Besides the van would have well slowed down by the time they got to the building, even with damaged brakes. It may not have stopped completely but it surely wouldn't be going fast enough to crash through the building.

Because then we wouldn't have had that amazing episode. Take it with a pinch of salt, and just enjoy it I say.

Yeah, the biggest flaw in the episode for me was the teens and the wedding party still being two separate stories even after they crashed through the reception.

No one from one story was visible in shots/scenes from the other story. Almost like they were completely different incidents.

I get that it must be a difficult thing to film with so many characters and keep continuity but it did pull you out of it.

I don't think it would have been that hard to film some of the scenes at the same time, there hard enough to film anyway so why not just make the effort for both to blend together!

I think there are a lot of problems they over looked tbh. Someone from inside the building should have come over, Moving the gast cylinder or atleast try!

I thought the building just looked so randomly placed. And it looked like it was made of balsa wood! Some good acting and some bad . . . like the guy with the extremely fake American accent. Just get an American to play the part. Overall good episode.

Yeah, the building was very obviously just thrown together especially for the stunt.

BIB - The actor who plays Doug IS an American.

I think we were meant to think that Maddie being young and not that experienced, panicked. Plus she was distracted by Bart and co. Common sense may have done a bunk while she was panicking! Maybe!

I did wonder why they didn't open the windows, but Esther did say to Bart that Maddie said slow down, so she managed to lip read that, maybe she felt her lip reading skills were enough! Again maybe Maddie wouldn't have gone for the window again because of the panic!

Most of the main characters were busy though. The only one not was Annalise (don't remember seeing her) and Texas. Most were in the building watching or trying to get Rhys out and Frankie and Leanne were wiggling Ste about!!! So apart from Tom and Texas, it would have to be an extra, which they wouldn't use! Although is a bit strange than none of them once all the dramatics was over, didn't go to see who was actually in the van!
