Holy. Crap.
Tonight's episode was so amazingly good! I was just not expecting that much intensity at all! I really didn't think we'd get Ste's realization so soon (if at all!) I really thought it would be a more gradual thing where Ste slowly thinks to himself 'Hey...why has Brendan not visited?' But my God, as soon as he woke up it's the first person he wants to see.
Oh Ste
The whole thing was heart breaking.
I'm so glad they decided to go down the route of 'Ste nearly died and now realizes that he was only kidding himself by ignoring his feelings for Brendan.' I dare say that Ste will now only continue with Doug because (1) he doesn't remember their fight and (2) because he thinks Brendan doesn't want him anymore. He won't realizing that Brendan is doing what he THINKS is the right thing to do, and by the time we get to Dublin we're going to want to explode.
I definitely think the cross will be relevant. Once he realizes what him and Doug were fighting about it will be like 'Oh God, this guy was going to send the love of my life to jail!' then when he finds the cross it will be like clarification to Ste. It's one thing Cheryl saying 'Yeah Brendan was here when your were admitted,' but it's another to find the cross (something Brendan takes with him everywhere he goes. A sign of his love and faith) and realize Brendan's heart has been with him the whole time and had been hidden from him by his 'husband.'
God this is going to be epic.
Also Ste's eyes at the end of the episode. Are you trying to kill me, HO's?
His eyes were burning with the desire to see Brendan. They looked on fire, it was so intense. You could just see how much he wanted to see Brendan and how much he wanted to hold him.
What I would give to know what would have happened if Brendan had walked in in that moment. I think Ste would have told Doug to leave because he wanted to be alone with Brendan and he wouldn't give two flying f**ks if it hurt Doug or not. I don't think he was thinking about Doug at all tonight. He couldn't wait for Doug to leave the room so he could ask Cheryl to bring Brendan.
Oh my God it's seriously like someone just wrote about this in a Fanfiction. It doesn't seem real. Way too good to be real. They love each other. I'm so happy Ste knew it as soon as he opened his eyes and there was no wait. He now knows his days are numbered and he knows who he needs more than anyone else.
