I wonder if the Doug telling Ste about Brendan could be the confession stuff rather then the cross, maybe Ste remembers something about a phone and arguing but not exactly what it's about and asks Doug and he doesn't tell him the whole truth. If it is the hospital stuff though and the cross I hope we get the Leah finding and playing with the cross necklace at the airport scenario though could be both and it can all come back to Ste at the airport through seeing the cross.

sorry if I'm being stupid here but if Ste knows fine well he can't go to America with his criminal record, then why is he at the airport in the first place ? it isn't to say goodbye to Doug because he has bags and so does Leah and Lucas? and I doubt if Ste told Doug he can't go to America, Doug would go without him..

But I'm thinking this might be another scam, tbh . Cos I don't think they can go back on Doug's betrayals having Ste feel done unless there's amnesia involved. So right at the point Doug knows Ste wants a divorce and they're trying to figure out how to split up their lives now, Doug's parents show up offering them a fortune. Doug thinks if he can just get Ste to go with him to America for the money, they'll have to stay married and he can hope in time he can make Ste love him again, and they'll be a whole ocean away from Brendan. But in the airport at that last minute, he'll know he's lucked out when Ste can't go through with it.
