I think the collapse was completely believable. He'd been on a mission from the moment he played the voicemail. I imagine him driving on autopilot, parking in a doctor's space at the hospital, careering through the corridors as we saw, and then the moment he achieved what he'd wanted, finding Ste, the reality of it hit him like a punch.
I couldn't see him acting that any other way. His reaction was very frantic and wild, but it was in essence the way anyone would have reacted. Once he had a chance to calm down he was just looking in at Ste in a very concerned manner and had collected himself by the time Doug came in. His reaction to Ste when he fell was him being smacked in the face with the reality that Ste could die. It was very Brendan. BH |

I loved how Brendan was trying to stay strong because he knew that's what Ste would want him to do

I share your feelings. But the way I see it, he drove me crazy back in June too, or whenever Jubilee Week was, and everything Brendan/Ste related felt hopeless.
Whereas now, he still drives me mad, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there. ![]() This is no way me having a go at PJ btw, He's an actor, and fine actor at that, It's the writing and the direction of it all thats cheesing me off the most. I think my annoyance mostly stems from the fact that we've been waiting for soooooooooooooooooooo long, and when ever we think 'ohh light at the end of the tunnel' It alllllll comes crashing down  |

Can you just imagine if that was the moment Ste died, how wrecked Brendan would be, and us?
I mean, Brendan would never get to tell him he loves him again, never of been able to have any type of relationship with him even if it was short lived, no nothing. He'd of either had to live a life knowing that Ste was gone, or not live at all. I think it would be option two personally which is just even more tragic ![]() ETA: Oh I want Ste in that coma as long as possible, less Stug the better thank you... |

I find it very unusual that anyone would find Brendan's reaction OTT when he was reacting in such a raw way, just like Jacqui was over Rhys. What else would he have done? The pain of seeing Ste with tubes coming out of him on death's door literally knocked the wind from him. He was so distraught he couldn't stand. Emmett played it brilliantly, end of.

I think he'd try and live on, Radio Gaga but I think he'd be even more broken than he is already.

It really feels like that type of love that if Ste died, he'd take Brendan down with him. That kind of love that -although it isn't always healthy or rational- seems to consume a person. I just think that is the type of love Brendan has for Ste. Also my flat mate was teasing me saying, "Oh I'd love it if Ste died. Nobody even likes Ste and Brendan, why did they both survive?" All the while giving me an evil grin because he knows that would annoy me! Then I turned and said to him 'Chris, if Ste died I'm not joking, I would have cried...and I'm not talking a single tear, I'm talking full-on, wailing, can't-catch-a-breath sobs! You'd swear a member of the family just died!'...he was shocked and judged me a little It's the truth though ![]() BH ETA: I think Brendan would go on for his kids and for Cheryl, but he wouldn't be there. He'd just be a kind of ghost I think. |

In the aftermath of the devastating crash, Ste is in a coma. Meanwhile, Phoebe struggles to retain her silence about what she knows. Elsewhere, one resident is shocked by how much their partner has discovered. Also today, Lacey seeks solace in an unlikely friend. |

I think Brendan would be dead inside if Ste died and he lived on, he'd be emotionless, uncaring, just a shell of a man. Where with Doug, in a few years time I think he'd be able to move on, find someone new, get married again, the whole shebang.
With Brendan, that's just impossible. There is no one else

No you're right, I find him an ok actor at best
I do think that his acting has been a little off since this Stug stuff started because they made his character too emotional and tormented and "dramatic". Thing is, PJ is perfectly capable of doing great emotional stuff (i.e Boxing day) he doesn't need to wail and screech like a freaking banshee ![]() And I get that he wants to make people cry but it's just not working. Look at Claire Cooper: that is a really good dramatic actress. She's believable when she cries, when she screams, when she's in histerics. PJ just... tries too hard. Maybe I'm biased, I don't know. But I don't think that anyone can say that he was good last night/tonight ![]() . He had such an easy ability with Karen, I really miss that.He can produce tears, I'll give him that, but is it truly good crying? ![]() And Brendan sinking to the floor today didn't even make me think twice about it. He'd just taken in that first sight of Ste in this condition, it's like 'what's standing?' Having said that though, it was a bit fast he did it maybe. I'm imagining him having tried to step closer first, his world spinning, and then sinking down on his knees, not knowing what to do. But Emmett's always great in his choice. |
