Whilst there is a lot of talk on the forum about 800Mhz and 2.6GHz the next bit of spectrum that Ofcom are looking to allocate to mobile services is 700MHz which is currently used by DTT (Freeview) this will put a further squeeze on Freeview services and of course there will be problems with interference once again. How much of a problem remains to be seen. 700MHz is already used in the US and Asia to provide mobile broadband services and is set to become globally allocated for mobile use after the next World Radio Conference in 2015.

It'll be interesting to see if it'll just be a retune and forget about it as Ed Richards says. Yes, some people will get interference but hopefully they will have already been sorted out by the current scheme!

The thing that annoys me is that they switched off analogue so they could have more space for Freeview channels but instead they are selling off all the space! Seems pointless as there is already space for mobile phones just now which they could change to 4G

Unfortunately the need to bring relatively fast rural broadband is more important to the government. Mobile may be the best and fastest to deploy option wise.

However do we really more TV space as there is already enough crap channels on freeview and the main 3 or 4 are HD already.
